Joe diGenova Speaks his Mind at MCGOP Dinner
By Deborah Lambert
During his spirited remarks at last week’s MCGOP Lincoln Day Dinner, the highly respected, no-nonsense lawyer Joe diGenova warned the audience that packed the Columbia Country Club ballroom in Chevy Chase that since America is in the midst of a Civil War where Democrats are determined to destroy a presidency because they’re out of power, “You have to fight if you’re going to win!”
This is especially true today, diGenova added, since the Democrats’ allies in the so-called mainstream press are doing the dirty work for Congress, which began last year during the presidential election campaign. Although The New York Times issued a phony, perfunctory apology after the election, it only lasted for 24 hours, after which they declared that they were back on track, and the Deep State was in control of the message, for what is turning out to be the most important campaign that will determine the ultimate fate of our country and its current president.
In his wake-up call to the GOP, diGenova insisted that while the Dems and the media think they run America, they’re wrong – that’s not true and we shouldn’t believe it, because the fact is that WE run America. Even when the Dems had a chance to have a rational debate re the Gorsuch nomination, they turned it down. Why? Because they can’t win a debate on the issues.
DiGenova’s remarks included a reminder to assembled Republicans that Sen. Mitch McConnell’s decision NOT to take up former President Obama’s nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to replace Justice Antonin Scalia, was a significant move, which not only assured that there would be NO decision on Scalia’s replacement during the remaining months of President Obama’s term, but sent people searching for the names of potential justices that presidential candidate Trump had received from the Heritage Foundation, which convinced a lot of people to vote for him, based on those criteria alone!
DiGenova confessed that although he and his wife Victoria Toensing had lost a lot of friends because of their opinions about Donald Trump, they did what they had to do in this heated political climate. The former U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia had previously that suggested that former FBI Director James Comey “was a danger to America” and deserved to be fired, because he was “out of control” and “so self-centered and full of himself” in the way he conducted his duties.
