Chairman’s Message: Inspiration from the 11th annual Montgomery County Republican Convention
Thank you all for joining us at the 11th annual Montgomery County Republican Party Convention. The event was informative and thought provoking, featuring legislative updates from the House and Senate in Annapolis, and a keynote address from Carroll County Commissioner Rothschild. Sheriff Jenkins of Fredrick County was a delightful speaker at our VIP Breakfast event, and Commissioner Rothschild and National Committeewoman Ambrose wrapped up the day with impassioned presentations at our post-convention lunch event. The crowd was upbeat and enthusiastic, and I heard nothing but positive reviews of the Convention.
As we celebrated the 103rd anniversary of President Reagan’s birthday last week, I was reminded most of his ability to inspire people. He didn’t whine about Carter creating problems he was elected to fix. He inspired people with messages of freedom and shared prosperity. As I presided over the Convention proceedings, I began to think about the people in the room who inspire me.
My good friend Alirio Martinez was in the audience. He proudly displays his conservatism on his sleeve and engages low-information voters everywhere he goes. His boldness inspires me. I have personally witnessed him win converts time-and-time again, turning clueless Obama voters into politically aware Conservatives. Never shy, always willing to engage friends and strangers alike in spirited debate, Alirio has shown me how one person really can make a difference.
Always upbeat, always encouraging, we were blessed to hear from one of my favorite people in the world twice at our Convention, Nicolee Ambrose. I am inspired by her tireless energy and enthusiasm. No one can talk about the troubles that face our country and party, and do it with a gleaming smile, quite like Nicolee. She has a unique ability to deliver troubling news about our plight along with an enduring optimism about how we are going to overcome the obstacles that lie before us.
We certainly face an uphill battle here in Montgomery County. But I am inspired by the MCGOP’s long-time Organization Chair, and candidate for House of Delegates, Pat Fenati. She is tough and tenacious in the face of overwhelming Democrat numerical superiority Montgomery County. Does she give up when people say, “why bother?” No, because this fight is too important. Pat is the hardest working woman in local politics, and we are lucky to have her on our side. Whether it is sacrificing time with family to conduct monthly precinct training, or spending countless hours in front of the computer keeping our databases up to date, Pat is always there for us.
If Dan Bongino asked me to, I would run through a brick wall
for him. His personal story of overcoming adversity is tremendous, but it is his ability to speak from the heart ith true passion that inspires me. When Dan speaks you are not hearing well-rehearsed talking points that were focus-grouped to death. You are listening to the fire of freedom and liberty the burns deep within him.
These are just a few of the people I saw at our Convention last week who inspire me.
There are so many more of you out there, and I want to say thank you. Thank you for believing in me; thank you for your support and well wishes. Together we can do big things. Together we can take Montgomery County back! God Bless.
