My Fellow Republicans
By Michael Higgs
I hope all of my fellow Republicans are out enjoying this beautiful summer weather and all of the fun activities we have to offer around Maryland. One way for you to enjoy the season is to join us at one of the many events around the County where we gather to spread the good news about Republican values and introduce friends and neighbors to our wonderful candidates. We march in parades, hand out literature at festivals, and sign up new volunteers at community gatherings. Please check out our calendar of events, and come spend an afternoon with your fellow GOP enthusiasts helping to grow our party. The Montgomery County Ag Fair is coming soon, so make sure you come out to support your hard-working MCGOP team!
In the wake of another successful Lincoln Day Dinner, I would like to thank all of the volunteers who poured so much effort into making the event so memorable. We were able to raise much needed funds while enjoying a fabulous evening. Our guest emcee Larry O’Connor drew raucous laughs, and Matt Schlapp was a wonderfully engaging keynote speaker. Great food, terrific company and a good cause; if you missed this one, please make sure to come out for our Reagan Day Dinner being planned for this fall.
I would like to ask all of our friends and supporters to say an extra prayer for our beloved Governor Hogan. He is fighting for his life while he busts his rear fighting for the future of Maryland. His courage and tenacity are awe inspiring. We need a healthy Governor Hogan to fulfill the vision that carried him to victory last November. What’s at stake is more than most people realize. Two of Maryland’s highest court justices hit the age of mandatory retirement during this first term, but four of them will age out during a second Hogan term. The appointment of six out of our seven Court of Appeals justices will reshape our courts for a generation. Also to be decided during a second Hogan term will be the redrawing of Maryland’s hyper-partisan voting districts. The stakes couldn’t be higher, so let’s get out there and lay the ground work for another victory in 2018!
