My Rights Violated
By Justin Khauna LeRoy
I legally immigrated to the United States over 20 years ago from the West African nation of Côte d’Ivoire—the “Ivory Coast.”
My goal was to be part of the American Dream: To raise a family in a safe, freedom loving environment; to obtain my advanced education, and to have a career where I could utilize my education and skills to advance and provide for my family. I am thankful to this country for allowing me to live my dream.
Recently I have begun to volunteer my time to the local Montgomery County Republican Party (MCGOP), since the GOP best represents my views on taxes, smaller government, border security and individual freedom. I have been openly welcomed and was pleased to see other minorities volunteering for the MCGOP. I am also actively supporting the campaign of Donald Trump for President.
I am also a founding member of a new group called Black Republicans of Montgomery County, which provides a viable alternative to the Democrat Party. No longer do black voters need to follow a party which has consistently taken us for granted and yet provides no relief from high unemployment, poor quality schools and unlimited illegal immigration.
In fact, “progressives” actively try to defeat initiatives such as school choice and school vouchers, which would help those striving to reach higher levels on the economic ladder. “Progressives” prefer to support their education unions while only giving lip service to the poor. What I have learned is that Republicans are actually the ones who are democratic, while Democrats are akin to “Big Brother” government. They want to tell me what is best for me instead of honoring the freedoms this country stands for and letting me decide for myself.
What has shocked me the most is the disrespect shown by Democrats to Donald Trump and his supporters. This has become increasingly obvious with the blatant removal and destruction of “Trump for President” yard signs throughout the county. My fellow Trump volunteers have reported signs quickly disappearing overnight while signs for other presidential candidates seem to remain unaffected.
A message for yard sign vandals: Take your frustrations out in the voting booth and stop violating my rights to FREE SPEECH to express support for my candidate, Donald Trump.
