Meet Jae Hwang, Candidate for Montgomery County Sheriff

In reading about the background and qualifications of Jae Hwang, this year’s GOP candidate for Montgomery County Sheriff, the write-ups about his career and experience practically jump off the page. For example, in a section titled “Restore Safety and Security,” he pledges the following: Leadership from the Front Lines, Not from Behind a Desk Respect and Accountability Directly to You, Not to Special Interests Zero Tolerance for School Crime and Domestic Violence Restore the Sanctity of our Constitution and Shared American Values

Oral Statement Made During the July 10th Meeting of the Montgomery County Council

By Sharon Cohen The following oral statement was presented by Sharon Cohen at the July 10th meeting of the Montgomery County Council during which the issues of eliminating At-Large County Council seats and redrawing the districts to represent smaller, like-minded communities were discussed, along with two proposed Charter Amendments that would (1) eliminate the role of party central committees in the re-districting process and give Council members the exclusive right to pick their surrogates and, (2) change the nature of a unanimous County Council vote to raise property taxes in excess of the growth in CPI.

Primary Voters Give Montgomery County’s Democratic Party a Hard-Left Turn

By Mark Uncapher By the narrowest of margins, Democrat primary voters in June selected long-term County Council member Marc Elrich as their party’s County Executive nominee over his nearest rival, David Blair.  The victory is hardly a mandate. Elrich’s 37,000 votes represents barely 5% of Montgomery County’s 730,000 total registered voters.

Dr. Politics – Keeping an Eye on Fundraising

By Dwight Patel It is July – You’ve gotten past the primary elections, you’re knocking on doors, you’re telling yourself you are doing great . . . However, you may have neglected fundraising.  It is very important that you focus on fundraising now, and I recommend that you utilize all of the methods that I mention below.

Written Testimony on Charter Review Amendments

Statement by Sharon L. Cohen to the Montgomery County Council Regarding the Charter Review Commission’s 2018 Recommendation and the Minority Report Recommendation July 10, 2018 Good afternoon.  I am Sharon Cohen, a life long resident of Montgomery County Maryland.  I serve on the Executive Board of the Montgomery County Republican Central Committee, but I speak solely on my own behalf today and in strong support of the Minority’s Report recommendation that, “now is the time to consider changing the make up the County Council by having more smaller and more responsive council districts.” Yes, now is the time to eliminate all At-Large County Council seats and then redraw the nine Councilmatic seats to represent contiguous, smaller, similar and like-minded communities.

The Single-Payer “Jealous Care” Health Plan Comes with a Huge Price Tag

By Mark Uncapher, MCGOP Chairman Maryland’s Democratic nominee for Governor Ben Jealous’ signature issue has been imposing a single-payer health plan on the state.  Unfortunately, the media and his fellow Democrats largely avoided addressing the staggering price tag of “Jealous Care” during the primary. However, the more they hear about Ben Jealous' extreme and risky proposal, the less likely his candidacy will play well with everyday Marylanders.

Calling All Patriots! Calling All Patriots!

By Liz Matory Don’t want to say I told you so, but in light of the official Socialist takeover of the Democrat Party once again, Republicans must fight (metaphorically and politically) to conserve our constitutional republic.   Happy Independence Day, Patriots! But at the rate this country is going, this may be the last 4th of July we can all celebrate without feeling like it’s racist or bigoted just for celebrating this great nation. Over the past few years, we have seen an amazing degradation of not only political discourse and rhetoric, but also the diminished knowledge and appreciation for what it means to be an American citizen.

Where Will the Election Go from Today?

By Yin Zheng After eight days of early voting and the final contest on June 26, the primaries in Montgomery County have ended. The massive number of campaign yard signs at polling stations was unprecedented and impressive. For County Council At Large alone, there were 33 Democratic candidates. It's astonishing how many people at the early polling stations appeared to be canvassing more votes than voting, and the panorama was extraordinary.
