The County’s own study published on April 28, 2021 regarding the County’s pilot program using non-gas powered lawn mowers notes, "The biggest challenge so far has been the limitations of battery life and related ability for the crew to cover the same amount of mowing area as a traditionally outfitted crew. The mowing battery can provide up to four hours of run time from a full charge and currently needs to return to the depot to charge for 12 hours.”

Expecting a team of workers to somehow charge equipment throughout the day is absurd. This law which goes into effect in 2025 to ban gas-powered lawn equipment will harm local small lawn and landscape business owners and raise the cost of lawn care for residents.  Forcing Montgomery County residents and lawn businesses to purchase all new non-gas-powered law equipment is just wrong.

This is the type of crazy litigation legislation that we get from our county Government.    In a time when the County is plagued with stagnant job growth, rising crime and failing schools, this is what the County Council is spending their time on.  It is time for new leaders in the County.
