CHAIRMAN, ALEXANDER A. BUSH
BLUE LIVES/ALL LIVES MATTER
Rockville, MD -- The decision last week by Montgomery County Executive Marc Ehrlich to forbid the display of a donated, homemade, wooden replica of the 'thin blue line' flag to a Germantown police station is patently ridiculous. This artwork was created and donated by a father and son in honor of First Responders Day. I cannot think of a more appropriate or welcome gift to those in our community who keep us safe. Montgomery County Republicans join Governor Hogan in his understandable outrage at the complete over-reaction on the part of County Executive Ehrlich, who does nothing but complain of the relationship between police and the community. We believe that the donation represents the exact opposite of what he alleges to be the problem. The vast majority of the residents in our county, regardless of party, recognize the incredible skill, dedication and sacrifice of our police, firefighters and first-responders. We believe that Blue Lives Matter and All Lives Matter.
