Chairman’s Message, Can We Get to Work Now?
By Alexander A. Bush, Esq., Chairman, MCGOP
I'll Say it Again -- No Collusion!
Pundits on CNN & MSNBC may cry, but this is what you and I already knew: 19 lawyers, 40 FBI agents, 500 search warrants, thirty million dollars, and 500 witnesses ago.
A massive, two-year national distraction that weakened America’s standing on the international stage. Can this finally be over, and can we get to work now?
Our southern border is in crisis, with crossings at an 11-year high, and with 100,000 migrants a month soon to be arriving at the border. For decades, most border-crossers were men traveling alone and looking for seasonal work. That population shrank after the recession, but the number of Central American migrants has steadily increased, with an especially notable increase among families and unaccompanied minors. The massive influx of families seeking asylum has strained almost every aspect of U.S. operations on the border. And Congressional Democrats are only too happy to blame the President while promoting policies that encourage mass migration in the first place.
And let’s not forget that there is an out-of-control intelligence community that needs to be reined-in. Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, just a few days before the President’s inauguration, made veiled threats of what might happen to the President once he stood up to the intelligence services: “Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you.” And it turns out some were already preparing the bureau's “insurance policy” against then-candidate Donald Trump. Where is the investigation into the coordinated attempt by the intelligence community and the Obama Administration to take down the elected President of the United States? Who stands with the President in his lonely struggle against a permanent caste of politicians and bureaucrats who think they have a right to stay in power forever? And so I ask, can we get to work now?
And while the economy is strong, and unemployment is at a 50-year low, Congress has no long-term spending plan for our country. The Federal government is 22 trillion in debt. Every year we are borrowing more and more money because we have promised to pay benefits to people that a balanced budget just doesn’t cover. Eventually this will erode the rate of growth, and we will be spending more and more of our tax money to pay the interest on the debt, most of which will be paid to foreign banks and governments. And unfortunately, President Trump is facing a field of Democratic presidential candidates who could not possibly care less about fiscal responsibility, and who rabidly support a regulatory state that has been a godsend for lawyers, accountants, and lobbyist, and a job-killing nightmare for the rest of us.
Will the House Democrats be partners in fixing any of this? Are they ready to get to work on our Nation’s many problems? No. Here’s what they want to do: hearings into things that have already been thoroughly investigated. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) wants to grill A.G. Barr and Mr. Mueller over the investigation and its conclusions, and he put the White House on notice earlier this month that his panel was seeking documents from 81 individuals, government agencies and other entities for a broad probe into the 2016 campaign as well as corruption and obstruction of justice. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) wants to investigate the President for impeachable offenses. And other Democratic members of Congress are insistent on continuing probes into the President’s businesses and his family.
Only one, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), had anything constructive to say and is being keelhauled by the left for it. It may be the final nail in her campaign’s coffin. Someone needed to say it for the sake of national healing, and I admire her patriotism for doing so.
So, when I say can “we” get to work now, I mean those of us reading this. If we want to see anything constructive done in the near future, we need to take back Congress. And we may just have an opportunity in our own back yard. It is time to take back the House of Representatives. Join me and get involved in taking back Congressional District 6.
No Collusion, No Obstruction! (Read Chairman Bush’s editorial above.) Yet the Adam Schiff arm of the opposing party offers delusions and no solutions.
