Election Year Dishes to Avoid!

As a public service, we thought it would be a good time to warn you up front about the candidates that the far-Left will be dishing up this election season. Talk to your neighbors about them. Warn your friends!

Starters

Sheepshead Salad – Named after County Executive candidate Will Jawando, this salad has plenty of greens, from you, the taxpayers. The protein is marinated mutton, a reference to Jawando’s tendency to masquerade as a moderate voice.

Jawan-dough Soup – This soup pairs well with the above starter. But be careful – although the soup looks inviting at first glance, if it is left to stand, it takes on a somewhat sleazy appearance.

The Leisure World Republican Club has a Huge Problem

(L to R) Reardon Sullivan, Chris Burnett, Dennis Melby, Fitzgerald Mofor

By Maria Dudish

The Republican Club has a huge problem…..our numbers are growing and we continue to ask for more chairs at meetings.  Our speaker, Reardon “Sully” Sullivan did not disappoint as he reiterated the same sad scenarios plaguing our county and state under current leadership. Failing schools, lack of voter integrity – there are more people on the voter rolls than citizens, high taxes, high energy costs and a county that has businesses moving out and none moving in. Not one Democratic representative in the state of Maryland voted to keep boys out of girls’ sports. How many of your friends and family in Leisure World and Montgomery County are moving out because it’s just too expensive?  In Sully Reardon’s words “the only way to make things better is to vote for a change. Also in attendance were from left: Reardon “Sully” Sullivan, Chris Burnett running for Maryland’s 6th Congressional District [email protected], Dennis Melby, Chairperson MCGOP Central Committee, and Fitzgerald Mofor (https://www.mofor4md.com/) running for Maryland House of Delegates.

Last year, the County Council unanimously voted to ban gas heating in County homes and businesses beginning in 2035. This mandate, which eliminates consumer choice, is clearly stated on page 8 of the County Staff Report ( BEPS Staff Report ).

Upper Montgomery Republican Women’s Club
Written by Brigitta Mullican

Several members of the Upper Montgomery Republican Women’s Club attended a showing of the movie Melania at the AMC Montgomery Mall Theatre in Bethesda, Maryland. We also encountered other club members from Chevy Chase who were attending later showings, while additional members saw the film at different theaters and times.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the movie, which focuses on the twenty days leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration and follows Melania Trump as she navigates the complexities of the White House transition while preparing to become First Lady once again. The film portrays Melania as someone who strives for perfection, cares deeply about children, and loves America.

Artemis II: Take Time to Look Up

By Joe Gillin

As we enter 2026 and plunge into activity for this year’s midterm elections, we are aware of the world around us with all of its tensions and turmoil. Some of us are old enough to remember the year 1968 with its assassinations, social unrest, international crises, plus the long and bloody Vietnam War that engaged public attention. Yet after that year’s presidential election, as the Christmas season approached, there was not just a quiet interlude from all the disturbing news, but a moment of epic inspiration as America’s Apollo program of pioneering lunar exploration was ramping up. Apollo 8 would be the first journey of humans away from the immediate vicinity of Earth out to circle the Moon. The mission collected valuable scientific and technical data that paved the way for the later landing missions but is remembered most for the awesome views of Earth from the Moon and the stirring reading by the crew of the first verses of Genesis during their Christmas Eve TV broadcast. Those later missions over the next four years ended in 1972.
