December Chairman’s Message

By Mark Uncapher, MCGOP Chairman

I want to thank my fellow central committee members for giving me the opportunity to again lead our party in Montgomery County.  Next year, in addition to our primary focus on reelecting Governor Larry Hogan, we will be selecting most of our state and county officials.  The results of this election will determine the direction of our state and county for years to come.

While Montgomery County’s political demographics are unquestionably daunting for Republicans, the trends we face are by no means insurmountable. In fact, we have the clear advantage of a not so-secret, secret weapon.  Our common-sense governor provides a clear contrast to Democrats in the General Assembly and in county government. He has provided a laser-like focus on making government more responsive and more job growth friendly.  And he has done this without tax or fee increases.

Together we can produce seismic shifts in the political landscape. Your party is revamping its organizational efforts, using the latest technologies and professional databases available to better engage with the voting public.

While we are working on new and innovative ways of reaching voters, we are also reenergizing our precinct organization for more direct neighbor-to-neighbor contact. We are also working closely with our active Republican and conservative groups in the county to coordinate these outreach efforts.

We need good Republicans to run for office in Montgomery County. Please talk to your friends and neighbors about running for office.  We will provide you with the tools necessary to run a professional campaign.  The deadline for candidate filing is Tuesday, February 27, 2018. We must cede no ground!

Thank you once again for your support!  I also want to especially thank outgoing chairman Dick Jurgena and 2nd vice chair Ann Hingston for leaving the party in such a strong financial position. With your help, we will elect Republicans candidates to office from Montgomery County in 2018.
