Hans von Spakovsky to Address November Free Speech Forum

By Gail Weiss

This month, the MCGOP Red, White & Blue Free Speech Forum is featuring Hans von Spakovsky, Senior Legal Fellow at The Heritage Foundation, as our guest speaker. The upcoming event will be held at The Barking Dog in Bethesda (4723 Elm St) on Wednesday, November 15th. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. to provide ample time to order food and drinks and the speaker will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. von Spakovsky is an authority on a wide range of issues, ranging from civil rights and civil justice to the First Amendment, immigration, the rule of law and government reform. His expertise also extends to campaign finance restrictions, voter fraud and voter ID, enforcement of federal voting rights laws, and the administration of elections and voting equipment standards.

His background includes serving two years as a member of the Federal Election Commission, the authority charged with enforcing campaign finance laws for congressional and presidential elections, including public funding.  Previously, he worked at the Justice Department as counsel to the assistant attorney general for civil rights, providing expertise in enforcing the Voting Rights Act and the Help America Vote Act of 2002.

Mr. von Spakovsky currently serves on the Policy Board of the American Civil Rights Union and was appointed in June 2017 to the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. He is a graduate of the Vanderbilt University School of Law, and received a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

As you know, twelve short months from now, mid-term elections will be underway. Now is the time to learn more about voter ID, election integrity, federal voting rights laws and other voting related issues that are the bedrock of our democratic republic.

  • Come and find out which Democrat congressional candidate dropped out of a primary race in Maryland and pled guilty to voter fraud after it was discovered that she had illegally registered AND VOTED in both Maryland and Florida in multiple elections!
  • Learn what steps Maryland election officials take to verify the citizenship of individuals registering to vote in Maryland. (Hint: You will be shocked!)

We look forward to seeing you on November 15th for this fascinating presentation.
