Resolution Against Antisemitism

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Rockville, MD – The Montgomery County Republican Party  

On November 14, members of the Montgomery County Republican Central Committee participated in the March for Israel on the National Mall. That evening at its monthly meeting the full county Republican Central Committee voted unanimously to adopt the following resolution:

Whereas, on the 7th day of October 2023, a calamitous terrorist attack was executed by Hamas, an Iranian-backed terrorist organization, upon the sovereign state of Israel, targeting innocent civilians in their homes, on a revered Jewish holiday;

Whereas, the aforesaid assault resulted in the cold-blooded murder of about 1,400 Israeli citizens, and the kidnapping of hundreds, the injuring of thousands, and the commission of savage murder, rape, torture, kidnapping, and mutilation;

Whereas, the days following the attack gave rise to a chilling 1,200% increase nationwide in online posts advocating violence against Israel and Jews, indicating a burgeoning wave of antisemitism and hatred;

Whereas, the atrocities committed on October 7 have not only ignited a profound sense of unity among Jewish communities but also highlighted the exigent threats and challenges faced by the state of Israel;

Now, therefore, be it

Resolved, that we hereby express our staunch support for the state of Israel, its right to sovereignty, and its endeavors to safeguard the lives and liberties of its citizenry.

Resolved, that we vehemently condemn the terrorist acts perpetrated by Hamas on October 7, 2023, and rebuke any individual or entity that supports or condones such acts of terror.

Resolved, that we categorize supporters of the October 7 invasion as pro-terrorist, advocating for violence and hatred, thereby standing against the principles of peace, justice, and human dignity.

Resolved, that we oppose U.S. support for the further transfer of funds to Iran.

Resolved, that we demand the immediate return of the hostages held by Hamas and that there should be no ceasefire unless all hostages are returned safely.

Resolved, that we call on the leaders of Montgomery County Public Schools and local community colleges and universities to promptly discipline teachers and administrators who make pro-terrorist statements and who encourage students to do the same.

Resolved, that we call upon the citizens of Montgomery County and the state of Maryland, as well as the international community, to join in condemning the supporters of terrorism, to work tirelessly toward the eradication of antisemitism, and to foster a world underpinned by tolerance, respect, and peace for all humanity.
