THE TIDE IS TURNING

By Lori Jaffe

Ever since the November 2024 elections, we have seen new hope rising up. The people we come across seem to have a renewed energy. There’s a new spring in their steps. We think the tide is turning. Could it be that the Left has gone too far? Yes, and common sense is on its way back! You can help make it happen.

We already see changes at the national level. Last week, a top leader of the international terrorism gang MS-13, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador,  was arrested in Virginia. As reported by FOX DC, he was found in Dale City, about an hour from Montgomery County. According to Attorney General Pam Bondi, “Arrests have increased 438 percent from the same period last year.” She repeated what President Trump said during his address to Congress, “We didn’t need new laws… we needed a new President.”

At the state level, Governor Wes Moore and the General Assembly think they have solved the problem of Maryland’s $3 Billion deficit. Time will tell what impact their decisions will have on the next election cycle. According to Maryland Matters, even Democrats are starting to push back at the Maryland state level. “‘I know this is not popular, as a person in the majority party … I stand here because I feel like I don’t have a place in this place anymore — I don’t. And it’s for some of these reasons in this very budget,’ said Del. Sheree Sample-Hughes (D-Dorchester and Wicomico).”  “‘It doesn’t look like what the Eastern Shore is in need of,’ she said in explaining her  ‘no’ vote on the budget, which includes more than $2 billion in cuts and $1 billion in tax increases.” After running over her allotted time, “Del. Sample-Hughes yielded (the floor) but not before saying, ‘Two minutes is up, but the passion for the people continues…’”

Montgomery Perspective reported on Del. Gabe Acevero, “As the General Assembly gets ready to pass a large tax hike, one state delegate has told Marylanders that it is their patriotic duty to ‘pay your fair share in taxes.’  Do voters agree?”  “Is this the message of Annapolis Democrats to voters: be patriotic and pay up?”  Will the Maryland voters wake up in 2026? We think so.

Common sense is even starting to take root in blue Montgomery County. Speaking of the 2024 election season, Clean Slate MoCo reported, “…I would like to recognize the progress that was made this election season. Ms. Diaz gained 42% of the vote compared to similar candidates two years prior who got less than 40%. This is a great sign for independent candidates in the coming elections. The tide is turning slowly but surely. We are returning to common sense and are tired of the same talking points and micromanagement of the Montgomery County constituencies. It’s about time we put an end to the censorship and polarization of Montgomery County.”

Hang in there. Remember where we were less than six months ago. Changing minds takes time. We encourage you to get involved. You can make your voice heard in many different ways – see below. Let’s ride the wave and bring back common sense. Thank you!
