Dr. Politics – Do Not Engage

By Dwight Patel

It’s getting close to Election Day, and that means another round of good-hearted volunteers bravely covering polls for Republicans all across the Great and Awesome State of Maryland. BTW, thank you Governor Hogan for putting the Great and adding the Awesome to the State of Maryland.

Covering a very serious point, one thing Republican poll volunteers should understand is that the Left is very mad these days. After suffering through defeat after defeat, they have accumulated a lot of pent up anger.  SO, I’m going to suggest some things that you should remember during early voting and when you are at the polls on Election Day.

Early voting starts October 25, 2018 and runs through November 1, 2018 from 10 :00 am to 8:00 pm. Although most of the early voting centers are safe, our poll volunteers should be cautious after dark, use the buddy system and go with a friend.

Also, during the early voting period, you may have a Democrat come up and try to pick an argument with you. Don’t engage them.  If you feel unsafe, contact a security person at the early voting center or go inside and contact the police.

These same rules apply on Election Day for poll volunteers.  Keep your cell phone handy, and if you see any voter intimidation, or if someone is bullying a voter or yourself, contact the Election Judge or someone from Law Enforcement.

Final Thoughts

Remember, as a candidate your friends and family members and other Republican volunteers working at polls on election days are volunteers.  We at the MCGOP will hold a session on 10-20-2018 that will provide brief training for poll volunteers on how to stay safe when volunteering at the polls. The most important thing to remember is that if you are threatened or feel threatened, don’t call the MCGOP -- Please dial 911.
