Fairness

Hello MFRW and Interested Others,

There are many important issues being debated and voted on in the Maryland General Assembly this Session.  One of the MFRW's most important priority issues is Fairness and Safety in Girls' Sports.  We need your ACTION in support of SB0050 - Fairness in Girls' Sports (Interscholastic & Intramural Junior Varsity and Varsity Teams and Locker Rooms – Designation Based on Sex).  See attached copy of SB0050 Here.  This bill has bi-partisan support. Let's work hard to make success happen this year!

SB0050 - Fairness in Girls' Sports, sponsored by Senator Mary Beth Carozza and Senator Ron Watson, will have a hearing in the Senate Committee on Education, Energy, and the Environment on Wednesday, February 18th at 1 p.m.
Only written testimony is allowed. Written testimony must be submitted in pdf format via the MGA website between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on MONDAY, February 16.
The website is: http://mgaleg.maryland.gov
(Instructions - tutorial at bottom of MGA homepage to set up an Account and submit testimony.)
Why is this important?  Because girls are biologically different than boys.
Studies show that even at age 6 boys are faster, stronger and more powerful than girls. This is not about being "anti-Trans".  It is about having a level playing field and safe locker rooms for biological girls.

Also attached is MFRW's testimony Here that will be submitted on Monday.  This testimony has been updated and includes expanded documentation by MFRW Legislative Co-Chair Sharon Carrick.

The 2nd option to take action, is to write emails to all members of the Senate Committee on Education, Energy and the Environment. (emails below).  Submit emails Monday, February 16 through 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18.  Emails can be short and to the point. Please vote for a Favorable Report for HB50 to provide equal opportunity for girls to compete in sports on a level playing field and protect safety and modesty in the locker room.

Please be sure to thank Senator Carozza and Senator Watson for sponsoring this legislation.

As always, please make sure that comments are respectful and directed at the issue and legislation we are promoting.

Your support is so very valuable, please take time to act this coming week to protect equal access and fair and safe opportunities for biological girls to compete in sports at the junior high and high school levels.

The MFRW Legislative Summary Update is posted on the MFRW Website (https://www.mfrw.org) under the menu tab "Legislative".  It is updated regularly.

Sincerely,
Ella
