Former MCGOP Chairman’s Message

By Richard Jurgena

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate our new chairman Mark Uncapher and his team on winning the election at the annual meeting.  While we have different approaches on how to accomplish our goals, I firmly believe that our goals are the same: re-electing Governor Larry Hogan and electing Republicans in Montgomery County.

I also want to thank everyone who supported me and my efforts. We are proud that over the past year we grew the county Republican Party’s donor base and grassroots organization substantially.  Ann Hingston and I step down leaving the Central Committee stronger financially. I especially want to thank Ann Hingston, Greg Decker and Dan Cuda, who ran with me as a team.  I believe we ran a positive campaign without rancor.  Hopefully Mark and his team will be able to build on the enlarged grassroots teams we developed and the technology which we supported.

To everyone disappointed in the results of the election, I too am disappointed that we were not able to see our plans through to completion; however, we must not allow our disappointment to prevent us from continuing to push to accomplish our common goals.  I encourage each of you to continue to work to expand the party and do your committee jobs as you understand them.   I hope we will have a smooth transition and join together to reach the goals we were elected to accomplish.

To all those who are elated at the results of the election, I urge you to reach out to those who are not and engage them in positive discussions about strategies and implementation.  Substantive plans and civility are important.

It has been a great 10 months and I can’t thank you enough for the opportunity to serve as your chairman.  Now it is time to get back to work as we enjoy this wonderful holiday season.
