I often speak to groups of immigrants. Most of the Media, most of the press, most of the other Party, like to push the narrative that Republicans are anti-immigrant. That's far from the truth.
So many Republicans are first generation citizens, indeed I think most of our current team of great Republican candidates are
wonderful, religious, brilliant, hard working legal immigrants and naturalized Americans. They're not looking over their shoulders for ICE, they're not scared to speak with a beautiful accent, or to proclaim a different religion. They share a love of America and one common phrase: Don't let happen here what happened back home.
All over Latin America left wing governments are rejecting socialism and turning to democratic capitalism. It's been a rapid change, and bodes well for the future of the world. "But what's happening here?" many say. Even traditional Democrats are scared of the rapid extremist turn to National Socialist Democrats...and they're not sure how - and if - to fight it. I SAY FIGHT IT!
Even the Pope recently continued his criticism of America and the western world, and since English is his native tongue I know it was deliberate, when he criticized the world for not welcoming the "Migrant". The left wing press does the same, so does the (now slight minority) other Party who accuse us of being anti-immigrant. WE ARE NOT. They purposely leave off the modifier "Illegal" Immigrant. We're against Illegal Immigration. They do it on purpose, it motivates their base, which is what they care about.
I've met, lunched with and interviewed Border Czar Tom Homan, and he told me every time "We need to get rid of the Worst of the Worst!" I too believe that. I differ with others who say all illegal immigrants should be immediately deported. Many were lured here by a President who didn't know where he was half the time (they told us he was at the Top of his Game!) They were let in by an impeached Border Czar who pledged and testified that "The Border is Secure!" IT WAS NOT.
If those folks - who were tricked into coming here to increase the voter base of swing districts - are hard working, blue collar, democracy oriented, family oriented, and adding to the greatness of America they need to have a future to continue to build this country, add to our foundation, and help us fight for democracy, prosperity and freedom. They'll add to the greatness of America.
Next week I speak to the Maryland State Hispanic-Latino Republicans in Gaithersburg. Come by if you can, you'll meet some wonderful individuals (legal immigrants and citizens for all over the globe) who are helping to Make America Great Again.
We were all immigrants at one point. Even my ancestors (who include less native Americans than Senator Pocahontas Elizabeth Warren's family- but some) immigrated here. As modern day patriots and true Republicans we welcome good people to our country, to join us in building the greatest nation on earth.
Republicans do not hate immigrants, the President and Vice President both married immigrants, Trump's mother was an immigrant. to say they hate immigrants is beyond the pail.
Tell me what you think. Is there a difference between a legal immigrant and an illegal immigrant? Have you noticed folks blur the line? Do you think ICE is a threat or a necessity? Do you have an immigration story? Write to me at [email protected]
