Let's Come Together

I’ll bet you did a lot of remembering last week. Me too.

Saturday we had a moving discussion in Rockville, remembering one year since Charlie Kirk was assassinated and 25 years since the terrorists murdered so many Americans on 9/11. Packed room, great speakers and guests and of course our constant prayer of “never again.”

May this story inspire others to embody selfless courage and also say “Lets Roll.” These were the words of Todd Beamer, one of the 2977 people lost 23 years ago. Although theSo much was local since Washington was also attacked, Todd Beamer saying, “Let’s roll...”, Rockville and townships throughout the county holding observances, I even spoke about Erika Kirk reliving the violence at the Washington Hilton's Correspondents' Dinner - through yet another assassination attempt on the President, weeping as she was led out, fearing she might not be able to hug her kids again.

We pledge to each other to stop the political violence, tone down the hateful rhetoric and talk ideas, solutions, and return to normalcy. It’s what we all pray for.

I see all the crazy partisan talk out there, on-line and on the news. But I also see a change, a moderation and a willingness to see all sides, not just to name-call, but ask for solutions. The Web doesn’t help with it’s pushing of extremism on every side of the issue…but your friends and neighbors aren’t like the invisible gnomes on the web.

GoebbertsIn Montgomery County we pledge to concentrate on the issues, the high taxes, the crazy useless rules, regulations and bigotries that many in power use to divide us by religion, color, birthplace, gender…all the ways politicians and the media can use to get attention. We need solutions to bring us together, to talk to our better sides.

…and thanks for all your comments about last week’s column on the local REALTORS leadership trying to turn GCAAR into an anti-Republican organization. Their leadership is not the same as your local REALTOR. The good ones I know never talk politics – they just concentrate on making great rentals or sales go through, regardless of your politics.

If you're reading this early Monday morning 9/14, drop by and see me at the IHOP in Rockville - Breakfast with Friends with Rockville City Councilman Adam Van Grack and others. We always get politicians and voters coming by for the great converations and great pancakes - at a great price.

Sidenote: Our MCGOP Newsletter gets WIDE readership. Yep, sometimes even the White House responds. On Saturday, a reporter from Swiss Broadcasting texted and came to HQ to interview and record many of us. Check it out HERE.

Drop me a line at [email protected], tell me what you think about this. I’d like to hear from you…and get ready for a great election in November. We have superb, energetic candidates who are not infected with the Socialist virus, want to return to normalcy, prosperity and stop taxing you into the poorhouse. Stay tuned for a positive change in November.
