Many New Faces at the Ag Fair!
By Laura Benson
This year marks the 75th Jubilee for the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair which continues to bring in crowds primarily from Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC. Though opening day was cancelled due to heavy storms and the closing day was briefly disrupted with thunderstorms, fair goers of all ages did not seem to mind and still came to enjoy fun and food.
The MCGOP hosts a tent at the AgFair each year staffed by Republican volunteers, and it is one of our premiere outreach events. Kids (and even adult kids) enjoy the Spin to Win game. This year we were busy with a steady stream of visitors to our tent from all political parties, stopping by to show support for the Republican Party and our quest to elect qualified, common-sense candidates who will help get our Country back on track.
As you can imagine, people have a lot to say this year about high food and fuel prices; high mortgage rates; efforts by Democrats to confuse kids rather than to properly educate them and teach them valuable and useful life skills; the corrupt lawfare against Former President Trump; failing educational systems; two wars and many more issues. It has not been lost on people that the attempted assassination of Trump was quickly dropped from the news cycle days after the event or that the Democrats who voted for Biden in the primary had their votes ignored by “installing” Kamala Harris as the Presidential candidate for their party. So much for Democrats being the defenders of democracy!
This was my third year as Co-Chair of the MCGOP tent with Martha Schaerr and we both observed much enthusiasm for our candidates, many new faces and inquiries about how to register to vote. Visitors were told to vote early and make sure friends and family also make a plan to vote early.
On behalf of MCGOP, thank you for stopping by to visit us at the fair, pick up literature or a yard sign. The MCGOP will have tents at various community festivals during September and October so there are many more chances to visit and get merchandise. We will see many of you again at the 2025 Ag Fair but in the meantime, stay engaged with us and consider getting involved by attending an MCGOP event, donating to our organization and/or volunteering.
