MARC ELRICH - MAN OF THE "WEALTHY" PEOPLE
By Lori Jaffe
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich wants you to think that he is a “man of the people.” But does he really represent you? Or does he listen more to the elite class? And do their ideas make sense? You can help the Committee for Better Government limit him to two terms, but you must act soon. Ten thousand valid signatures must be gathered by July 29. (See below).
So, who does Elrich represent? You can get a good idea by reviewing some of his videos to see his recommendations on how you should live your life.
- Buy an Electric Vehicle (EV).
According to car and driver, if you want to buy the Kia Niro EV that Elrich shows off in his video, you will need roughly $41,000. But Mr. Elrich and his friends haven’t thought this all the way through before trying to push it on us. For example, what should be done with all the dead batteries? “If (the battery) ends up in a landfill, its cells can release problematic toxins, including heavy metals… Cut too deep into a Tesla cell, or in the wrong place, and it can short-circuit, combust, and release toxic fumes.”
- Put solar panels on your house.
On average, solar panels cost over $10,000. According to Green City Times, “For the average size home, it takes an average of 8.3 years to earn back the money you spend on installing solar panels.”
To make matters worse, according to Clean Slate MoCo, what Elrich is pushing is the old “reverse Robinhood” ploy. “Now though, new research and energy policy changes out of Maryland’s progressive “big brother” state of California, the go-to for 90% of MoCo’s (and Maryland’s) bad public policy ideas, is throwing cold, cold water on the “green” reverse Robinhood energy policy of taking money from the poor to hand to the rich, such as solar-panel pusher Mr. Elrich. Looks like the Takoma Park tyrant’s “green utopia” is really just redistribution – but from the poor to the already wealthy!”
- Open a winery.
Elrich encourages farmers to grow grapes and take them to (9:42) “crush pads” so that they can enter the wine making business. What’s that you say? Your land isn’t zoned as farmland? It’s just as well since plants emit (wait for it) GREEN HOUSE GAS! Well, we didn’t say all of this made sense. Elrich is just following his Leftist leaders, and they are making it up as they go along.
County Executive Elrich’s responsibility is to oversee the spending of county taxpayers’ money. Why are we spending so much money on climate change? According to Elrich, (7:00) “Only we can end climate change.” He cited the 2020 UN Emissions Gap Report to make his argument. (5:25) “Montgomery County’s climate goals are to reduce community-wide greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2027, and 100% by 2035. They are among the most ambitious in the world…, and I can only think of one other place in the United States that is more ambitious than we are, and it is far more ambitious than the state of Maryland.” He’s just following his leaders.
All of the above recommendations cost money. So, if you don’t have the kind of money it takes to follow Mr. Elrich’s recommendations, he may not relate to you. We think he has lost touch with the majority of Montgomery County voters.
Marc Elrich wants to run for a third 4-year term as County Executive in 2026. Are you tired of dealing with his far-Left policies? Stop the madness. Please volunteer to hold him to two terms.
