Sully Says: Elrich / Jawando 12% Tax Increase?

In this video, I discuss that County Executive Marc Elrich and Council Member Will Jawando want to raise taxes and fees in the County over 12%, which is more than four times the local rate of inflation of 2.4%

I have been very clear about my support for reducing spending and keeping taxes in check. I urge you to contact the other candidates in the County Council District 1 race:

  • Drew Morrison
  • Debbie Spielberg
  • Julie Yang

and see if they support Elrich’s double-digit hike.

Do they support the “Stop the Spend” ballot question to limit spending in the County?

If they don’t support this ballot question, they will raise your taxes.

I need your help to bring common sense and accountability back to Montgomery County.

Reardon (Sully) Sullivan for Montgomery County Council

MONTGOMERY COUNTY PROPERTY TAX EXPLOSION

The Wizards of Rockville Strike Again

We have prepared this detailed analysis to show homeowners, commercial property owners, multi-family landlords—and by extension their tenants—what the "Wizards of Rockville" have cooked up now!

The tax math and language these officials use is obtuse at best. But YOU know when you get stuck with a huge tax hike, compounded with ever-increasing assessments by Maryland's State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) that are just jaw-dropping.

Not to be outdone by what they caused in 2023 by raising tax rates, recording fees, and mortgage fees—County Executive Marc Elrich, "Senator" Will Jawando, and Council Members Kristin "Fix My Flat Tire" Mink, Natalie Fani-Gonzalez, "Takoma Kate" Stewart, Laurie-Anne Sayles, and Sidney Katz are back at it in 2026, pushing massive tax increases due this September.

Elrich, Jawando, and the Council majority refuse to do their jobs to balance the County and School budgets without punishing taxpayers.

Back The Blue

Dear Mr. Melby:  thank you for another great article.  Of course we should support the police.  Of course they should have security at the schools.  I even think they should have the same security at the schools that they use at airports with bag checks etc.. Only by being proactive will we prevent another school tragedy.

Safety
Police guard banks, Our children are more valuable and should be protected at schools.

WHAT WILL ELRICH AND JAWANDO BRING YOU?

(1)

By Lori Jaffe (with apologies to Jack Webb.)

It was Tuesday. Joe Monday walked into the office early, coffee cup in hand. His partner, Frank August, was already there.

“Hello Frank, any calls?”

“Hello Joe,” said Frank. “Just the usual so far, neighbors complaining about the other neighbor’s dog, that kinda thing.”

“Uh Huh,” said Joe.

Just then the phone rang, and Joe picked it up.

“Steady ma’am, calm down! What seems to be the problem?”

“Oh Officer! You have to come quick! There’s a crime going on!” It was a woman’s voice and she sounded very upset.

“What’s your address ma’am?” asked Joe.

Joe and Frank got their coats and hats and ran out the door.

Joe forgot his coffee cup.

MCGOP's  Practical Guide to Closing the $854 Million Six-Year Structural Gap

Montgomery County faces an $854 million revenue shortfall over six years while compensation costs at County Government and MCPS accelerate to 7-10% annual growth—three to four times the historic 2.5% average[1][2][3]. This two-page analysis identifies specific areas where cuts can close the structural gap without touching core services like 911, police, fire/rescue, roads, and trash collection.

Electricity in Maryland is/was supposed to be simple

By William Irving
Electricity in Maryland was supposed to be simple.  The concept developed by past visions is that electricity was provided by a monopoly over an area of the country, usually a state.  The monopoly took care of providing a power plant, transmission lines, distribution lines and metering.

WE'RE ON THE RIGHT SIDE

Saturday, I saw General John Teichert, a great patriot, Air Force Brigadier General (retired), former Republican candidate and author, at a Women’s Club meeting at GOP headquarters in Rockville. He shared his message of hope for America and optimism for the future.

I assured him and the club members that we were on the right side, as a great Party, an alternative to the woke socialist movement that’s captured the county and State. And a moderate voice in a far-left single party run county and state. A great example is their lack of respect for our police and law enforcement personnel. Remember the Democrat movement to Defund the Police? In DC they even painted it on the road across from the White House. It caused havoc, disrespect and hatred towards the cops for years. Here in MoCo, they even took the protective officers from the schools, making them less safe and more dangerous for the kids just trying to get a safe education protected from bad students or outsiders. On the County Council, there are a couple of members who simply hate the cops – and constantly show it.

Back to the Women’s Clubs – they’re one of the few organizations who show they care. For years they’ve visited police stations to show community support, often bringing snacks, lunch and fellowship. They’re one of the few, if not only, public organizations who do this, and the cops love it. They’re so grateful for a show of support by the public. It’s important and again puts us on the right side.

Last week I asked the Republican Central Committee for the authority to donate some funds from the Chairman’s Club to the women’s clubs Back the Blue project. We made the contribution this week. It’s important, it’s welcome, and it’s kind of the least we can do to acknowledge that these men and women put their lives and reputations on the line every day for us and our community.

Yep, we still need the money for the 40,000 sample ballots, but this is important too. If you’d like to help me restock the fund, please donate HERE or at the site further down in this newsletter. And thanks for joining us and being on the right side.
