Tax That Gal Behind the Tree
By Dennis Brent Melby
My fellow taxpayers,
Wednesday is tax day…are you paying “your fair share”? Here in MoCo apparently many folks on the Left think the answer is NO. A few folks actually come up to our booths and events and say they’d like to pay more, and that they enjoy paying taxes. And of course the Powers-that-be often agree with them.
Union Teachers have packed the Council and Executive forums to say “Moore please” except maybe not the please part, but you catch the drift. We were lied to for many years that MoCo had a great diverse economy, not at all reliant on Federal largess. Recent cutbacks by the national government have shown that to be a farce – with our county even offering to be the employer of last resort for folks who held positions deemed non-necessary.
CALL THE GOVERNOR
Call the Governor NOW urging him to VETO SB 791, the Community Trust Act.
CALL GOV MOORE NOW!!

TELL HIM TO:
VETO THE SANCTUARY STATE ACT!!!

PARENTS' CHOICE BALLOT

Below is a copy with our endorsed candidates who align with UARE's focus. These are the candidates that received the highest scores from the UARE members that attended the March 11th forum. I need your help to get this ballot out to Montgomery County Voters. We need help with the following: stuffing plastic bags with campaign literature, emailing our ballot to voters, displaying our yard signs, door knocking, and handing out ballots at voting polls. It's going to take all of us, if you want to make positive changes in our school system. Please email me and tell me how you can help! Thank you, Dee - [email protected]

Sully Says: Vote For a Leader Who shows Up
I attended the public hearing for the Montgomery County FY27 budget at the County Council building and the turnout said everything. The room was packed. Standing room only.
But here’s the troubling part: judging by the reactions from Councilmembers like Will Jawando, Kate Stewart, and others, it felt like the decision had already been made to raise taxes without discussion as to what programs can be eliminated, consolidated or restructured.
Despite overwhelming public concern, it appears our leaders are moving forward with significant tax increases.
Many of us know that County Executive Marc Elrich has proposed:
- A 6% property tax increase
- Higher County piggyback taxes
- Various additional fees across the board
Altogether, this could mean nearly a 12% increase for the average homeowner.
Let that sink in – Can you afford a 12% tax increase?

Dear Dennis - We, as Republicans, need to be positive, optimistic, and assertive! Your article was all of that and more! Your enthusiasm is catching and will encourage us to get actively involved in the coming elections.
Thank you for an article that is well written and well received. I am glad the Hispanic community understands our need for change at the County and State levels. Keep up the great work!

Hello, This is infuriating to see that only low and moderate income earners are considered for any "good" done for citizen residents. And who's monitoring these programs for fraud? Also, WHY are we funding the repair of the FSK Bridge when a huge container ship, owned by foreigner, slammed into the bridge? Shouldn't THEY be paying for this damage and repair?!
