PLEASE VOTE FOR SCHOOL BOARD
President, UARE.US
I feel I need to voice my recommendation when making your selections for the board of education candidates. There's no question about District 2 - Brenda Diaz, our endorsed candidate, is a shining star. As a 20+ year educator, working inside the system, she is well aware of the causes of our spiraling downward school system. Her platform focuses on academic excellence for all students, prioritizing safety and parental involvement.
As for the other two districts, we have to pick the lesser of two evils! At Large candidate, Lynn Harris, the incumbent, who most voters usually vote for because of name recognition has instilled her leftist values and provoked many parents in our communities. Her voting record does a disservice to parent's rights, safety in our schools and success for every student! Even though, her opponent, Rita Montoya, union endorsed, is not much of a choice, she is the lesser of two evils!
Laura Stewart, District 4 candidate, has neglected to show up at multiple forums to voice her opinions on any MCPS issues. As a high level union member, she knows the union has her back! What she has done is to post lies about candidates and groups such as UARE being a hate group. UARE's mission is to educate parents and voters to the issues causing our school system to decline. In addition, we only want "Success for Every Student." Educating all students to graduate and become self- sufficient adults should be a top priority. Her opponent, Shebra Evans, an incumbent, also not a great choice but definitely the lesser of two evils.
Laura Stewart and Lynn Harris represent EVERYTHING that UARE is trying to eliminate in the school system. In each case, we have to closely examine which priority is more critical. By not voting for the at large and district 4 candidates, the powerful union will have control as usual. I don't agree with bullet voting.
My recommendations - At Large - Rita Montoya (hold your nose)
District 2 - Brenda Diaz
District 4 - Shebra Evans (hold your nose)
