Progress Over Platitude: Montgomery County GOP Delivers Results for Our Community
By Roxana Allen
In today’s polarized political landscape, Montgomery County residents are often bombarded with slogans, promises, and partisan rhetoric, but little in the way of tangible results.
The Montgomery County Republican Party (MCGOP) held its 2025 convention on Saturday, October 11, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Gaithersburg, Maryland, celebrating recent Republican successes and serving as a call to action for future engagement.
Local Leadership
Reardon Sullivan, chair of the Montgomery County Republican Party, emphasized: “Montgomery County is really ground zero for turning Maryland around,” and “People say, ‘I want to know where my money's going.’”
“Montgomery County deserves progress over platitude,” he said to drive the party toward governance.
Progress Over Platitude reflects a commitment to practical governance, accountable leadership, and community-focused solutions.
Accountability First at Every Level
Chris Burnett – 6th Congressional District
- Focus: School transparency, lower taxes, strong law enforcement
- Quote: “Accountability, transparency, and integrity aren’t slogans — they’re standards.”
Chris Burnett draws on two decades of military service to champion accountability and integrity. Government must serve the people, not politics. This principle guides our candidate as he advocates for transparent operations, fiscal responsibility, and results-oriented policies. Burnett is focused on school transparency, curriculum oversight, lower taxes, and strong law enforcement, all policies that prioritize families and community prosperity. His three broad priorities are prosperity through lower taxes and lighter regulation, peace through strong national defense, and protection through firm support for law enforcement and effective immigration enforcement.
Common Sense, Fiscal Responsibility, and Practical Governance
John Myrick – Gubernatorial Candidate
- Focus: Fiscal responsibility, public safety, results-driven governance
- Quote: “Maryland spends more but delivers less. It’s time for common sense and accountability in Annapolis.”
Marylanders deserve government that works efficiently and delivers results. John Myrick, our gubernatorial candidate, is committed to reining in excessive spending, strengthening public safety, and reconsidering costly initiatives such as the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. His approach isn’t about political games - it’s about creating policies that work for the people who live here.
Community Engagement and Local Solutions
Ricky Mui – County Council, District 3
- Focus: Affordability, safety, grassroots engagement
- Quote: “We need to talk to our neighbors about what really matters: affordability, safety, and keeping families happy in Montgomery County.”
At the county level, Ricky Mui is reconnecting the Republican Party with the people of District 3. He focuses on quality-of-life issues like affordability, safety, and family well-being. His grassroots approach encourages residents to participate, speak up, and help shape solutions for their neighborhoods.
Strong Leadership and Proven Results
Robin Ficker – 6th Congressional District
- Focus: Strong leadership, immigration enforcement, economic growth
- Quote: “Donald Trump delivered results on immigration, the economy, and international affairs, and I’ll make sure Western Maryland has a strong ally in Congress.”
Robin Ficker highlights the importance of strong, results-driven leadership. Advocating for robust immigration enforcement, economic growth, and national security, Ficker pledges to bring Western Maryland a dedicated ally in Congress.
Keynote Speaker: Reviving Maryland’s Economy: Empower Citizens, Not Bureaucracy
John Teichert, retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General, delivers a clear economic mission: cut red tape, curb government overreach, and unleash Maryland’s potential. He argues the state’s economy is stifled by excessive regulation and tilted toward entrenched institutions, a system that punishes small businesses, working families, and innovation.
Teichert links economic revitalization to national security, family stability, and community strength, calling for a return to fiscal discipline, fairness, and opportunity for all Marylanders. His approach is results-driven: empower the private sector, strengthen the workforce, and make government serve the people, not itself.
Teichert’s action plan focuses on reigniting Maryland’s economy by cutting taxes and red tape, rebuilding industrial and defense strength through workforce investment, and restoring fiscal discipline to curb inflation. He aims to link public safety with prosperity, emphasizing that secure communities fuel growth, and to expand fairness and freedom by reducing big government’s control and empowering citizens to succeed. Teichert’s call to action is clear: “It’s time to empower citizens, not bureaucracy - to restore fairness, growth, and resilience from the ground up.”
Building a Legacy for Montgomery County Youth
“Republicans tend to be working, raising families, paying mortgages; but we have to start talking to young people about things that actually affect them, like housing, safety, and opportunity.” The Party held a moving tribute in honor of Charlie Kirk, recognizing his lasting impact on youth engagement and civic awareness. Reardon Sullivan highlighted Turning Point USA as a model for grassroots outreach, emphasizing the need to empower and involve young citizens in shaping Montgomery County’s future through real conversations about opportunity, security, and economic growth.
