Today is 1 year since the Hamas terrorists' attack on the Israeli civilians in the middle east. We mark that day and mourn the Israeli men, women and children so brutally killed, and Americans and others taken hostage and traumatized by the violence. We will not be silent.
This war must end, the people of Gaza must be free of Hamas, and the remaining hostages must be returned. Here in America and indeed the western world the threat of anti-Semitic violence and intimidation in cities and on college campuses has been a disgrace, with American students fearing for their safety in their own towns and at their own schools. This too must end. Too many innocent civilians in Gaza and the surrounding countries have been drawn into the conflict and paid a horrible price, we mourn them too.
Too often you and I have prayed for peace and tolerance in the Middle East, and too often our prayers have been met with more bloodshed. We still yearn for peace, and we won't be silent again.
