REPUBLICANS URGE PAUSE IN ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE

Please see attached letter from the Maryland House Republicans urging a moratorium on offshore wind energy development.  This is very timely in view of the proposed "Maryland Climate Pathway" proposal just released by the Maryland Department of the Environment.

Maryland House Republicans Urge Federal Delegation to Call for Moratorium on Offshore Wind Development

Annapolis, Md – Citing both environmental and national security concerns, the Maryland House Republican Caucus today sent a letter to Maryland’s Federal Delegation urging them to call for a moratorium on offshore wind development until the completion of an investigation by the Government Accountability Office (GA0). The letter references scientific data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, as well as information from the United States Department of Defense. A copy of the letter was also sent to Governor Wes Moore.

For some detailed information on the concerns about offshore wind energy projects see the link to a video featuring Bonnie Brady Executive Director of the Center for Sustainable Fisheries discussing the impact of offshore windfarms on sea life and possibly on tides. Thanks to Carol Frazier for sharing.  It is an hour-long video, but it very informative and thought provoking.

This is the time to learn the details and be prepared to voice your thoughts on how Maryland should proceed.
