“When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.” ― Mark Twain
Last week, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, called President Trump “Daddy.” He had it right. Even the White House embraced it. Trump has been taking care of business, cleaning up the mess left by his predecessor since he came back in office in January. But most of the “loyal opposition” have been reacting like unhappy teenagers, constantly seeking attention and the approval of their peers. Our very own “representative” Jamie Raskin is one of those unhappy souls. It’s embarrassing.
Psychology Today offers some insights into handling difficult teenagers, including:
“Establish Clear Boundaries”
“Utilize Assertive and Effective Communication”
“In Serious Situations, Deploy Consequence(s) to Lower Resistance, and Compel Respect and Cooperation”
The second Trump Administration has been setting clear boundaries, communicating effectively, and making it clear that there are consequences for bad actions, not just in the US but world-wide. But Trump continues to receive push-back from Raskin at every turn.
Illegal Immigration
In March, the President encouraged illegal immigrants to use the CBP Home App. “People in our country illegally can self deport the easy way, or they can get deported the hard way, and that’s not pleasant.”
Trump’s actions caused a sharp decline in illegal immigration. Border Czar Tom Homan said, “‘The border is sealed. [Exactly] 96% had declined illegal immigration. And when 96% less people are coming across that border, how many children aren’t dying? How many women aren’t being sex trafficked? How many known suspected terrorists aren’t getting in the country? How many pounds of fentanyl isn’t getting in to kill Americans?’“ A Fox News poll shows that most voters favor deporting illegal immigrants.
But in April, Raskin “threatened foreign leaders who ‘facilitated authoritarianism in our country’ by currying favor with President Trump on issues like deportation — saying that Democrats will not ‘look kindly’ on his supporters when they ‘come back to power.’”
DOGE
President Trump established the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). According to their website, the DOGE staff found $180 Billion in estimated savings.
According to Fox News, Rep. Jamie Raskin complained, “ ‘Do we really need to hire a fourth branch of government called Elon Musk to go out and do it for us?’ Rep. Raskin had asked the room on Tuesday, calling Musk and his DOGE team ‘mutant teenage racist computer hackers.’ Rep. Raskin was claiming that Musk and his team had taken ‘possession’ of financial payment systems at the United States Department of Treasury and had access to the private financial records of Americans.
(Entrepreneur and author) Magatte Wade sounded off in Congress at Rep. Raskin over his ‘complaining’ about Elon Musk, asking Congressional members what their ‘endgame’ was by attacking DOGE's process.
‘Keep your eye on the ball. And your ball should be me,’ she said. ‘How do we make me better off?’” Yes, Jamie – what’s your plan?
Strike on Iran’s Nuclear Program
After the strike on Iran’s nuclear program, President Trump addressed the nation. " ‘For 40 years, Iran has been saying, “Death to America. Death to Israel.” They have been killing our people, blowing off their arms, blowing off their legs with roadside bombs,’ Trump continued. ‘That was their specialty. We lost over a thousand people, and hundreds of thousands throughout the Middle East and around the world have died as a direct result of their hate in particular.’"
Last week, Raskin released a statement after voting to postpone Rep. Al Green’s motion to impeach President Trump (House Resolution 537).
“The Constitution makes clear that only Congress has the power to declare war. Trump’s unauthorized military action, the details and results of which he refuses to come clean about, is one more entry in the growing inventory of his egregious violations of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The Constitution is not a minor inconvenience to be ignored at whim but the operating system for our government and the binding covenant of the American people.”

Are you tired of the complaining? Do you wish that you had a representative who did something more constructive than just objecting to everything "Daddy" does? If so, please join us in bringing back common sense solutions to Montgomery County and Maryland. Thank you!
