DIAL BACK THE HATE

Other nations are watching us.

Last week started with an assassination attempt on the former President. Mid-week he was nominated to return to the White House by an overwhelmingly enthusiastic Republican Party. The end of the week saw the sitting President issue a written statement on social media that he was quitting the Presidential contest.

Other nations are watching us. Not all are our friends.

Here, national politics is local. Many of the folks who run the White House, Congress and the federal agencies live in Montgomery County, with their spouses and families. They’ve been lying to us. Our President, they said, was fit as a fiddle and behind closed doors he could run rings around anyone – sharp as a tack and hard to keep up with. They were lying to us.

When our honorable Congressman Jamie Raskin is fully behind you, you obviously really have to worry. And with a great friend like Nancy Pelosi in your corner you really should not turn your back.

As I said last week, a President too emotionally, mentally, or physically ill to stand for election is too ill to occupy the Oval office. He needs to resign now. I pray for him.

And let’s be clear, as Republicans we don’t hate Biden, we don’t want harm to come to him and we certainly don’t want death for him. We don’t want him as President but comparing him to Hitler or trying repeatedly to imprison him is not our intent. We want him and his Party to do the right thing and clean up the mess of inflation, crime, addiction, poor schooling, homelessness, overseas violence, and the long list of legacies of this Administration.

Our voting starts in September. I know what I’m doing – for President, Senate and Congress – straight down the ballot Republican. And I hope that’s your choice too. No more hate, just back to work to make this country great again.

November can't come fast enough.
