Time is running out—the Maryland General Assembly adjourns Monday, April 7, at midnight. Marylanders are deeply concerned about soaring gas and electric bills and the state's troubling economic conditions. Yet, Annapolis politicians are proposing billions in new taxes while offering little more than empty promises on utility costs.
Less than three years ago, Governor Larry Hogan left Maryland with a robust $5 billion surplus, ample reserves, and a solid rainy-day fund. Governor Wes Moore himself admitted that Maryland was financially strong. Yet today, we face a staggering $3 billion deficit—an astonishing $8 billion swing from surplus to shortfall. Marylanders clearly feel this economic strain. A recent Gonzales poll reveals that 50% believe the state is headed in the wrong direction. Even worse, 58% of Maryland families rate their economic outlook as fair to poor, and 76% have seen their electric bills rise dramatically over the past year. As a member of the Maryland Freedom Caucus, we've proposed a practical 4-Point Plan to deliver immediate relief—ending the monthly EmPOWER fee, preventing the closure of critical power plants, and halting costly Green New Deal programs costing taxpayers over $200 million a year. Maryland cannot recover economically without controlling energy costs and stopping reckless tax hikes. Neighboring Virginia has already adjourned its legislative session with a budget surplus and promising economic outlook. Maryland legislators must follow suit and act now. I will continue fighting for low costs in Maryland as this legislative session comes to a close.
Have a good rest of your week,

Maryland Democrats have scoured every nook, cranny, and mattress tag of your life, hunting for new taxes. Now they've hit the jackpot: taxing you while you sleep! Welcome to the Maryland Sleep Tax—charging an extra $20 each on your mattress and box spring purchases. You're already paying a 6% sales tax, and now Annapolis wants $40 more just for daring to upgrade your sleep.
![]() And don't forget their new "Tire Tax," piling an extra $5 per tire onto the 6% sales tax and the 80-cent recycling fee you're already stuck with. Clearly, the big winner here is Delaware—where mattress stores laugh all the way to the bank with zero sales tax and zero extra fees. Sleep well, Maryland—if you can afford it! Myself and the Maryland Freedom Caucus are working tirelessly to fight off these taxes. Follow us on X for updates!

On the last day of Women’s History Month, I proudly stood to honor Riley Gaines. The exceptional collegiate swimmer tied to the 100th of a second with trans identifying biological male Lia (William) Thomas. After losing her trophy to the woke NCAA, Riley continues to work to Save Women’s Sports. Watch my speech below.
