Tom Homan is a crusty guy. Doesn’t smile a lot and is serious most of the time. When he was with us in Gaithersburg earlier this year he teared up when talking about rescuing kids from the cartel, kids that were his children’s age. He made us all cry when he talked about carrying one dead boy out of a loaded truck the smugglers had abandoned and left locked in the hot sun.

President elect Trump has named him to Vice President Harris’ position as “Border Czar.” Kids, women and most immigrants will be safer because of it. It’s not some ethereal problem about stuff far away. It happened again over Thanksgiving. While I was shopping in Germantown there was a man and two really young children begging for money in the cold on the corner as we all left the shopping center. Immigrants they said, please help.

Did I know the kids were his? Did I think they were “trafficked” for labor or worse? I gave them money but knew it was a tragic situation those kids should not be in. Unless you watch left-wing news, you know what’s happening at the border. All the kids left by smugglers in the middle of the desert, alone and afraid – and then released by the government to anyone willing to take them – with no follow up about where they are or who they’re with. They apparently have no whereabouts for over 300,000 of them. So sad.

Barak Obama had deported over 5 million during his presidency.  Already, even the Biden administration has over 1 million people on their list for mass deportation – they’ve been found to be frauds and not welcome in this country. Will Trump be able to get that done? We’ll see, he’s got a good team but the Left continues to fight him on every front.

I talk to so many Americans who immigrated, followed the rules and gained citizenship. No matter where they come from: Asia, Africa, Hispanic countries or any number of areas - they all tell me how disappointed they are that the borders are open with no vetting and protections from those surging into our/their country. And since they came here legally they know the truth, that we invite millions in legally each year - because that's how they got here!

Repatriating millions will free up housing, welfare and food payments, public healthcare expenses and so much more. And the media will fight the new Administration every step of the way…but normal America seems to have woken up. We see more optimism in America. While super blue MoCo is still in shock the rest of the country seems optimistic for the future. There are those of us who join that optimism and yearn for a brighter tomorrow for all of us.

I join you in supporting the work of Tom Homan, ICE, the new Administration and the Trump-Vance team, and look forward to both parties working together for America.
