Washington Post:

You are correct.  The Post is mostly left wing propagandist.  We need a paper with reporters that are balanced and fair to all parties. I’m a native Washingtonian and I love living here.

____________

I was a news photographer for the Washington Star from 79 to 81 when it closed. We were the only DC paper with honest reporting. The Washington Post was always a left wing biased paper. It became worse when the Smith Mundt act was repealed in 2012.

....good riddance...

____________

Lefties/Dem hate Trump b/c Trump has burst the iron grip on Gov of Dems. AND uncovered All their corruptions!!!!!

____________

Dear Mr. Melby:  I think for now we are okay with the Washington Post.....  Like you I am a subscriber and have been for years.  I received my paper this week as usual.  The only change that I noticed was that the Style section was back on top again and that the Sports section became smaller.  I was very glad to see that since that is how it had been forever and ever.  So personally I was pleased with the latest issue after the big announcement.  It looked like business as usual.

____________

I am also a subscriber and a Republican. I think the changes over the last two years have been positive, mostly on the oped page. They have very good analysis and comments and they aren't all anti-Trump. Lots of criticism for Democrats and liberals as well. In addition, some of the in depth reporting has been excellent. Speaking for other Republicans, many of us are disgusted with Trump's behavior and priorities (think ballroom, arch, support for abortion drug) and think some negative comments are needed. It will take time to move the op ed page viewpoints on reporting to the main pages although who knows if it will happen now.

____________

It’s so sad to hear that the Washington Post is failing.  Along with the rest of our American media they have no one to blame but themselves because of their treatment of our President.  The media spews hate for him and anyone who votes for him.  He is trying to make our government smaller, and more efficient.  The hatred comes from fear of our politicians being exposed as they steal taxpayers money.

First, the Post owner needs to drop Democracy Dies In Darkness which is the header on the front page.  The Post needs to be uplifting so readers will be proud of of our newspaper and our government and our elected leaders.

The local news is practically nonexistent.

Washington, DC is the Capital of our great nation and the citizens who live here in the city as well as the neighborhoods surrounding the city want a vital and rigorous print media.

My sincere hope is for the paper to be sold to a newspaperman that will bring it back to an exciting paper that will be read nationally and internationally.

Immigration:

But it’s the way in which it’s done.
We need people on their side!
Perhaps it is time to take a break from being in the streets.

We shouldn’t be battling with citizens.
Let’s take a step back but
Keep going for the criminals!

____________

General:

We have several important issues to address in a deeply blue state.

A few thoughts:
1. Attacks on the governor are not effective in a deeply  blue state
2. Focus on facts that show serious consequences.
     A. Affordability:
          1. Rising costs of electricity due to unrealistic green efforts, showing costs, inefficiencies, and absence of evidence that these costs have bettered the environment in any meaningful way
          2. Crime - from both illegals and generally. Need facts about the recent Wooten shooter where the authorities dropped ( maybe) a problem kid into the school. Were school authorities warned? Efforts to protect? All while the Dem legislature wants to shield so-called youth offenders.  Threats from illegals. Fully documented?
          3. Environment- demand cost/ benefit analyses for all projects. Demand identification unt  real benefits and real costs as they affect points 1 and 2, above . We should press the County to provide real data that supports the alleged benefits of its environmental policies and the real costs weighed against those claimed benefits. In the County’s website, I see general platitudes, but the focus should be on Montgomery County’s efforts and what, if any real world contributions do those tiny efforts make. We need to raise these important issues based on facts, not ad hominem attacks or whining. Hopefully, demands for reasoned discourse will achieve some purchase.
          4. State pensions: Fully funded? Unfounded liability? Caps? At what point should state employees fund their own pensions?
          5. Schools- what has MC ( or all counties) spent on transgender/pride efforts? What efforts to protect parents’ rights?   What efforts to raise reading and math scores? Or to teach civics?
On a related subject, we need to press the County on the recent sewage spill: the reasons, the dangers to the Potomac and to the Bay , and the costs, both short term and long term. We need honesty and transparency. And the data!
