I'm Surrounded by Immigrants

Legal immigrants just make sure they do it according to Hoyle and don't raise tempers to a boil. In the end, after all is said and done, we're done for, anyway.

You are making tremendous breakthroughs in Montgomery County!!! WAY TO GO!!! To have a democrat acknowledge that there is a difference between legal and illegal immigrants is stellar! Keep up the good work. ___ and I live in __, we were involved in the Republican Party (Cecil County) for many years.

Jimmy Carter - Don't Vote by Mail

You're a liar. The absentee ballot findings were taken out of context and Jimmy Carter even said he voted by mail. Even the Heritage Foundation knows there isn't voter fraud. Go ahead and look, they keep a database.

(But Carter on Thursday pointed to a statement last May from the Carter Center endorsing the use of mail-in ballots. Using the findings from the 2005 commission report, that statement argued “that where safeguards for ballot integrity are in place … there was little evidence of voter fraud.”)

The ICE OUT Act

I am forwarding an email that I had sent to Council member Glass and his colleagues in response to the former’s ICE OUT legislative  proposal.  This is a further nail in the coffin of the county doing everything possible to thwart federal immigration and benefit laws relating to illegal aliens.  This is after the passage of the Trust Act that continues to mask the identity of illegal aliens and opens up all Montgomery county services to illegal aliens that residents legally in the country are entitled. All of this has created significant increases in taxes and fees that the residents pay to subsidize these “free services” like transportation.

Nowhere has the county provided any transparency of the cost and the impact of “open county” services.  Nor has the county provided light as to the criminal and civil acts committed by illegal aliens.  Indeed, no county employee can ask for the immigration status of individuals, the outcome of which leads to substantial benefit fraud.  Apparently, our leaders are complicit in this fraud by their actions, including providing funds from federal grants to NGOs and charitable organizations without any restrictions as to authorized entitlement as well as releasing criminal illegals back into the communities to commit more crimes.  When will they wake up!

Forwarded message:

ICE OUT Act

I have read your proposed legislation re above subject.  Unlike you and others on the Council, there are tens of thousands of Montgomery County residents that want detention facilities for illegal aliens and visa overstayers. Federal laws are clear. Illegal aliens and others have violated our immigration laws by entering and/or staying in our country without obtaining the appropriate visa or ignoring the conditions of the visa in the case of individuals who overstayed the terms of their visa.

As you are well aware, there are over 150,000 illegal aliens in this county and this group is growing daily in part due to the benefits provided by the county and the sanctuary-like policies of this county.  The vast majority of illegal aliens have committed crimes of all types such as felonies, major and minor misdemeanors, benefit fraud, identity theft, social security fraud, no shows at immigration hearings and/or avoidance of deportation orders to name a few.  And, the county continues to ignore this and the rule of law, by rejecting ICE detainer requests and releasing these criminals back into the community to commit more crimes.

The Trust Act provides for the entitlement of all services to illegal aliens that US citizen residents receive.  This was done without any transparency of the cost and how it impacts and affects the taxpayer and will only exacerbate the deleterious effect on schools, hospitals, housing, transportation etc.  More importantly, the policies and laws of the county in essence undercut and violate federal immigration laws and other federal benefit laws.  Indeed, it appears that you and your colleagues, for the most part, are complicit in continuing these violations.  Your ICE OUT ACT proposal continues this complicity and raises serious questions as to the myriad of illegal actions taken by the county council aside from the negative impact on taxpayers from a number of perspectives.

Consequently, you should reconsider not just the ICE OUT proposal but other laws that you and your colleagues authorized that impede a number of federal statutes.

Follow up feedback message:

I have recently forwarded MCGOP comments that I had filed with the county council and others regarding the cost and effect of illegal aliens to the taxpayers of the county, and asking for records detailing such costs as well as the effect on the safety of our communities due to protection of criminal aliens from deportation.

To date, county officials have done nothing but create roadblocks to provide this information whether through the denial of public information requests or through regulations prohibiting county employees from asking for the immigration status of an individual.  The features of the recently enacted Trust Act further impede Federal immigration and benefit laws, and establishes, among other things, the entitlement of all governmental services to illegal aliens.

To my knowledge, the county has never told its residents/taxpayers how much they are subsiding and providing “free services” in all program areas (education, medical, housing, transportation, welfare etc.) to illegal aliens.  Nor has the county identified what costs the taxpayers will incur because of the passage of the Trust Act.  But, it is clear it will be substantial.  Indeed, our far left, progressive, tax loving county executive Elrich has recommended an increase of local income taxes from 3.2% to 3.3%, a 6.3- cent per $100 assessment, and billions of dollars in infrastructure improvements over a 5 year period.  This is an overall budget increase of 5.5% over the current year increase.

This out of control county spending has to be stopped.  The MCGOP has to step in and provide the leadership necessary to defeat this whether through ballot initiatives, community workshops, ground and door to door efforts and canvassing to garner the full support of residents/ taxpayers.  Time is of the essence so our county does not go down a path of budgetary and tax destruction.
