Please sign this JotForm with reference to the hearing tomorrow, Tuesday Sept. 16th, on SRA 25-02. Time is of the essence! We need to limit as much as possible the damage these zoning changes will do to our neighborhoods.
As you may know, ZTA 25-02 passed in July despite our collective best efforts to stop it. It is unfortunately bringing higher density zoning to our neighborhoods, including and especially along Massachusetts Avenue.
The County Council is now considering another piece of implementing legislation known as Subdivision Regulation Amendment (SRA 25-02) which will provide additional details and specific parameters related to lot consolidation and the construction of duplexes, triplexes, townhomes, and apartments in single-family neighborhoods along major roads throughout Montgomery County.
There will be a hearing on SRA 25-02 this coming Tuesday, September 16, at 1:30 PM, and I urge you all to sign up today to testify either in person, if you are able, or virtually. See the link below:
This is really important for the future of our neighborhood. Ideally, not more than 2 lots would be combined. If they allow 3 of the previously upzoned lots along Massachusetts Ave. to be combined, we will be seeing apartment buildings being constructed there. Your comments can be as simple as, “I am opposed to allowing 3 lots to be combined” or you are welcome to use any or all of the talking points developed by our fine neighbors at Citizens Coordinating Committee on Friendship Heights provided below.
The time to take action is now!
We were notified by neighborhood association (WCA) that they are attempting to close the intersection of Westbard and River, something which all of the local civic associations oppose. What is going on here?
