* Christina Wong Poy was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan in September 2015 to serve as the administrative director of both the Governor’s Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs and the Governor’s Commission on South Asian American Affairs, which are a part of the Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives.
Before joining the Hogan administration, her professional career and volunteer activities were grounded in improving educational, leadership, and social access for minority low-income students. Her career history includes positions as the global ambassador and director of scholar relations for the GatesScholars.com Think Tank and Global Community, which was founded by alumni of the Gates Millennium Scholars Program and as the senior relationship manager of the Gates Millennium Scholars Program from 2000 to 2014.
She credits her experiences as the Organization of Chinese American Women’s national vice president of communications for eight years and her two terms as the president of OCAW-Maryland chapter with providing her leadership and community engagement platforms.
Christina received her B.A. in East Asian Languages/Literature as well as certificates in East Asian Studies and Business from the University of Maryland.
