First Vice Chair

Sharon Cohen

Sharon L. Cohen is a life-long Montgomery County resident. As a military brat, Sharon lived in many places but returned to Montgomery County after completing a BA in political science in 1978 from the University of Arizona.

After completing a Masters Degree in Health Economics and International Affairs in 1982, Sharon began a long career in health care policy and lobbying in Washington, DC.  She served as the chief federal lobbyists for several trade groups including the Biotechnology Industry Organization, the Health Insurance Association of America, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.  In 2012, after managing the healthcare practice for a well-know political lobbying firm in Washington, DC for nine years, Sharon formed her own lobbying company to represent healthcare clients before the US Congress.  In 2016, she retired from active federal lobbying in order to concentrate on local political work.

Sharon joined the Central Committee in 2016, appointed to serve a vacancy for LD 15.  In 2018, Sharon ran at-large for the County Party Central Committee and was elected to serve as first Vice Chair in November 2018.  Sharon has served the County Party in many ways, as a liaison to the County’s Republican High School and Asian GOP Clubs, serving as Chair of the Party’s “Digital Toolkit” committee; managing our County party newsletter process; and serving as the Vice Chair of the County Council’s Public Election Fund Committee.

Sharon resides in Potomac in Legislative District 15 with her husband and her mother.
