A Tribute to Diana Waterman

Katja Bullock, Nahid and Issa Khozeimeh & Diana Waterman
By Dwight Patel
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Diana Waterman, a pillar of Maryland’s Republican Party, a tireless leader, and a dear friend to many. Diana’s legacy spans nearly two decades of service, during which she helped shape the direction of the Maryland GOP and championed the conservative cause with unwavering dedication. Her passing leaves a void that will be hard to fill, but her impact will be felt for generations to come.
Diana’s journey in Maryland Republican politics began with her role as a founding member of the Chesapeake Republican Women, where she served as Treasurer and twice as President. From those early days, she exhibited the qualities that would define her career: resilience, integrity, and an ability to connect with people on a personal level. Her leadership within the Maryland Republican Party was exemplary. She served as 1st Vice Chair from 2010 to 2013 and later as Chair from 2013 to 2017. In every role, Diana brought a level of professionalism, compassion, and dedication that set her apart.

King of Comedy
Remarks of Donald J. Trump, at the Al Smith Dinner, New York City, October 17th, 2024
“Instead of attending tonight, Kamala’s in Michigan receiving Communion from Gretchen Whitmer.”
Joe Biden has almost disappeared from view, the only way he could be seen less is if he had a show on CNN.”
“Chuck Schumer is here, looking very glum... but look on the bright side, Chuck: considering how ‘woke’ your party has become, if Kamala loses you still have the chance to become the first woman president.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released its analysis of the impact the Biden-Harris Administration’s unilateral expansion of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has had on labor force participation. Based on CBO’s estimates, the TFP increase ($300 billion over the next decade) likely lowered the work effort of those receiving benefits. Studies show lower labor force participation results in lower economic growth and delivering federal revenue. [Since taking office, President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have signed 142 executive orders costing American taxpayers an additional $2 trillion over ten years.

Attainable Housing Strategies Initiative (AHSI)
By Amy Waychoff
The AHSI, approved by the Planning Board this summer, is now pending before the County Council. Council President Andrew Friedson appears to be a strong proponent of the plan, while County Executive Marc Elrich is a fierce opponent. If adopted, AHSI would allow multi-family homes to be built on single family lots in 82 percent of Montgomery County neighborhoods! This initiative is in line with the United Nation’s 15-Minute city concept, which discourages the ownership of cars. The goals of the plan, as stated by the Planning Board, are to increase the diversity of housing, make neighborhoods less exclusionary (equity), and to create more opportunities for homeownership.

Tell me if you've voted already. Tens of thousands of Marylanders already have.
We make it so easy you can still sign up and get a mail in ballot to Bank your Vote, we have many days of early voting for you to vote in person, and of course election day is November 5 at your local precinct. Make your choice and make your voice heard now.
I enjoy meeting the folks that come to Headquarters and to our events, chatting with them about their hopes and fears and trying to find the best way to get their wishes and vision accomplished. It’s really by voting and working for the candidates and the cause dear to you. This newsletter will give you so many opportunities to become involved, please take it seriously.

I’ve spoken to the press a lot in the last couple of weeks and also been able to speak to some pretty big crowds. The biggest applause line is usually “we need to dial back the hate.” Folks on our side are certainly tired of it, and I’m thinking the other side is too. Just think, in a little over three weeks the big argument will be “who really won?”
We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us, right now VOTE, have respectful discussions about politics with your neighbors and friends and we’ll work with the election authorities to “trust but verify“ the election results.
Hope to see you in person soon!
DO 15 MINUTE CITIES WORK?

By Lori Jaffe
The Attainable Housing Strategies Initiative (AHSI) is essentially the MoCo Planning Board and County Council’s attempt to put our county into compliance with the United Nation’s 15-Minute City concept. But do 15 Minute Cities really work? As often happens when governments follow the leader without thinking about the consequences, our Montgomery County government appears to be behind the curve. If they had only done their due diligence, they would not be under fire now. You can email the Planning, Housing and Parks Committee to register your opposition to the initiative (see below) and sign the petition. (Note that a financial contribution is NOT required - you can X out of the solicitation, and your signature will still be recognized.)

The Huessy Report
Memo to my fellow Republican members of Montgomery County
from Peter Huessy, President of Geo-Strategic Analysis
Great week for our country! Trump proposed no income tax on overtime pay and tips; and deduct interest you pay when buying or leasing a car. A tax trifecta! All the women wait staff on my favorite local restaurant are all going to vote for Donald Trump!! And Cackles? She said there is nothing that Biden has done over the past four years she would undo. But she said we have to turn the page and have a new direction.
Taxes: They are coming for your money
The article documents the frightening truth that under the proposed left-wing radical tax plan, half of all corporate profits will go directly to governments. This is because they plan to raise the corporate income tax to 33% (when adding state and local taxes) and the capital gains tax (a double-tax on corporate earnings) to 34%. Add it together and the shareholders receive less than 50% of the returns.
