UARE ANNOUNCEMENT

 

United Against Racism in Education (UARE) is interested in assisting qualified candidates who are interested in running for Montgomery County Board of Education.

There are three (3) seats on the BOE that will be on the ballot in 2024. District 2 (Northwest County including Poolesville, Germantown & Clarksburg ), District 4 (South and Southeast County, mainly Silver Spring), and At-Large. These seats are very important to our plan for restoring family and parent involvement and the high level of achievement that MCPS has been known for in the past. In addition, we want to improve services and accommodations that meet the educational needs of all students, while protecting our kids from the drugs, crime and violence that nobody wants to talk about. Qualified candidates should bring enthusiasm and commitment as well as a background and/or training in one or more of the following:

 

● Education,

● Political Activism or Elected Office

● Managing Teams,

● Financial Management, Bookkeeping and Accounting,

● Criminal Justice,

● Medical Degree, or Psychology Degree,

● Community Organizing

I gave her $20 in cash. She was outside the Safeway in Damascus with a young man and two young children. Her sign in broken English said “please help, new to country, need food.” My Spanish is very poor but from trying to chat I found out she had been in Mexico about two weeks before and came here because she thought life would be better.

Inside the store I spoke to workers and found out that the young man wasn’t her husband, it was her brother. They said she had been out there off and on for several days. Indeed, when I gave her the money, she came right in and bought her kids food – candy and sodas - but I don’t judge. I don’t know what happened to her, it’s been a couple of months.

Today I see more and more migrants coming to our “Sanctuary County.” In Germantown at Milestone Plaza there are now men in the middle of every street corner asking for money. Recently as I drove into the parking lot for the shopping center there was a woman with two young children collecting money. The kids were playing on the grass at the street side. It was cold. As I went into Walmart, before getting to the Salvation Army kettle, women approached me in the parking lot asking for money to feed their kids. Mostly with broken English, not only Spanish, folks of every color and nationality.

The people in the South are overwhelmed. The largely Latino border agents are overworked - about 200 migrants per agent to "process". The US government flies them to cities in the north, some southern states offer them bus transportation to cities in the north. Sanctuary cities in the north don't want any more...yet they keep crossing our "secure" border.

  2023 has been a great year for your Maryland Republican Party.

We brought in dynamic new leadership and staff, and spent the year implementing new technologies and strategies to spread our message, register and reach voters, raise funds, and win elections.  We have gathered frequently for events all across our state, strengthened bonds between conservative groups, developed new networks for connecting with minority voters that we have previously not reached, and raised money and awareness for countless organizations, candidates, and causes.  We even won major victories in Democrat strongholds like Salisbury and Bowie to bring desperately needed conservative leadership to cities and municipalities that have never had it before.
