STOP THE SPEND

County Executive Marc Elrich has proposed another round of tax and fee increases in Montgomery County. In addition to higher property tax rates and rising property assessments, the proposal includes increases to the County piggyback tax, transportation tax, electric vehicle charging tax, solid waste tax, water quality tax, and more.

For the average homeowner, the combined impact is expected to exceed a 12% increase.

Now is the time to take action. We have a unique opportunity to influence how Montgomery County manages its spending by limiting annual growth to the prior year’s rate of inflation.

This petition does not dictate which programs or services will be capped. Those decisions will remain entirely with the County Council. However, if passed, total County spending would be limited to the previous year’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), unless the Council votes unanimously to exceed that limit.

THIS PETITION DOES NOT CAP ANY SPECIFIC BUDGET ITEM

Honoring Legal Immigrants

I often speak to groups of immigrants. Most of the Media, most of the press, most of the other Party, like to push the narrative that Republicans are anti-immigrant. That's far from the truth.

So many Republicans are first generation citizens, indeed I think most of our current team of great Republican candidates are wonderful, religious, brilliant, hard working legal immigrants and naturalized Americans. They're not looking over their shoulders for ICE, they're not scared to speak with a beautiful accent, or to proclaim a different religion. They share a love of America and one common phrase: Don't let happen here what happened back home.

All over Latin America left wing governments are rejecting socialism and turning to democratic capitalism. It's been a rapid change, and bodes well for the future of the world. "But what's happening here?" many say. Even traditional Democrats are scared of the rapid extremist turn to National Socialist Democrats...and they're not sure how - and if - to fight it. I SAY FIGHT IT!

Even the Pope recently continued his criticism of America and the western world, and since English is his native tongue I know it was deliberate, when he criticized the world for not welcoming the "Migrant". The left wing press does the same, so does the (now slight minority) other Party who accuse us of being anti-immigrant. WE ARE NOT. They purposely leave off the modifier "Illegal" Immigrant.  We're against Illegal Immigration. They do it on purpose, it motivates their base, which is what they care about.

I've met, lunched with and interviewed Border Czar Tom Homan, and he told me every time "We need to get rid of the Worst of the Worst!" I too believe that. I differ with others who say all illegal immigrants should be immediately deported. Many were lured here by a President who didn't know where he was half the time (they told us he was at the Top of his Game!) They were let in by an impeached Border Czar who pledged and testified that "The Border is Secure!" IT WAS NOT.

If those folks - who were tricked into coming here to increase the voter base of swing districts - are hard working, blue collar, democracy oriented, family oriented, and adding to the greatness of America they need to have a future to continue to build this country, add to our foundation, and help us fight for democracy, prosperity and freedom. They'll add to the greatness of America.

Next week I speak to the Maryland State Hispanic-Latino Republicans in Gaithersburg. Come by if you can, you'll meet some wonderful individuals (legal immigrants and citizens for all over the globe) who are helping to Make America Great Again.

Hi, Largely agree with overall Republican policies - this county moved me right of center having been raised as a liberal Dem in NY.

I appreciate your optimism re Republicans but this will always be a Dem County and it’s getting worse …. Jawando worse than Elrich etc

It seems to make more sense - at least in the short term - to switch to vote Democrat in the primaries to at least get someone more centrist - aka Friedson for the most recent County Exec. Wells is great - but has no chance … I literally messaged Friedson to ask if he would support her - but no - he is of course part of the Dem machine .   The low primary turnout by Dems gave him a chance - especially if Rs and Is temporarily switched .

America at 250

Congratulations America!

Congratulations my friends, we made it! From 1776 to 2026 - a great reason to celebrate.

Benjamin Franklin said it best "You have a Republic - if you can keep it!" And we have, the first, the best, for over two centuries.

On behalf of the Republican Party, our hard working Clubs, our great Candidates, and all your friends and neighbors, I wish you a Happy Independence Day.

It's a well-deserved holiday, although many are troubled by partisanship, disagreements and personal struggles we are overwhelmingly proud to be Americans. More unites us than divides us. Like you, I'm so glad to live here in the greatest country on the planet.

Tell me your story:

  • Are you here many generations or a recent immigrant?
  • Do you have story of struggle, of poverty, of success?
  • What does religious, racial, cultural or gender have to do with your American values?
  • Do you believe in the two-party system, free enterprise and abundance?
  • Do you have a favorite Independence Day story? HERE'S MINE

Tell us your American story.

Write to me at [email protected]

Montgomery County, if you wish to know approximately what extra you are paying for in your electric bills see link above.  The author estimates 7% more in electric bills to join the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.

"As July begins, Virginians brace for higher gas taxes, hoping that the $68 price of a barrel of crude oil will start to bring the price at the pump back down. However, they will very soon be hit with a 7% increase in their electric bills."
