WHICH WAY TO GO?
Democrats, Independents and Republicans think we're going in the wrong direction. While our elected officials tout "next year" we watch crime, kids' education, quality of life, affordable housing, and so much more perform below par.

We need to tackle these problems. Montgomery County and Maryland used to lead the way in prosperity and quality of life. Now we slip farther behind. We need to do better. Our elected leaders tout the California model, the West Coast dream. Whether it's voting, taxes, economy, energy, housing, DEI, you name it they want us to be like the Left coast.
- Read Peter Huessy's column on the California Dream below.
- Come to our MCGOP convention this month. Talk to the candidates. Listen to the speakers. Get to know the solutions proposed.
- Read Lori Jaffe's piece about the lack of choice in personal transportation.
- Reach out to help us get out the vote, help count the ballots, communicate with our fellow citizens and make a change for the better in November.
Our way of life, our democracy, our kids' futures depend on it.

CALIFORNIA DREAMING IN MOCO
By Peter Huessy
Many in the Maryland legislature want Maryland to emulate California and adopt its policies and laws. Each week we will thus bring you information about what California has accomplished.
The annual deficit according to the Budget Committee Chair in the State House in Sacramento is $78 billion in addition to the $24 billion owed to the Federal government for erroneous unemployment payments. This compares to an overall state budget of $467 billion, or a deficit of 21%. This compares to the Federal debt of $1.5 trillion projected for FY2024 which is 23% of all spending.

As of this writing, we are two days from the end of a Maryland legislative session that has seen its share of good news and bad.
First, the good news: bad bills that fortunately did NOT pass:
• The End-of-Life Option Act, which would have allowed a mentally competent adult to request “aid in dying”
• The massive sales tax bill
• Ranked Choice Voting bills that were put forward by the Montgomery County delegation
• A bill that would have required anyone carrying a firearm to have $300,000 in liability insurance

WE WILL MISS THEM
Last week in Maryland we were all consumed with grief over the tragic collapse of the Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore.
Our hearts go out to the friends and families of the 6 men who left that night to work hard on the night shift making sure it was safe and secure for their fellow Marylanders, and perished doing their job.
They're missed not only by their families but by all of us. We'll rebuild the bridge, but we'll miss them forever.
God bless them.
