Rascism
A Response to This Book Is Anti-Racist Being Taught to our Children
No, America is not systematically racist. Yes, there are racists in this country. No there is no way of looking at a person and determining if that person is racist. While you can make laws against racist practices, there is no law that can force away the ignorance of racism in a racist’s mind. You cannot legislate away ignorance. You have to teach. There was a song in a Broadway musical that says to be prejudiced “You have to be carefully taught.” We have to find ways of unteaching. This book does not do that.
In Montgomery County our children are being taught from a book called “This Book is Anti-Racist.”
It is the most racist book I have read. In it the author, Tiffany Jewell states:
In our society REVERSE RACISM IS NOT REAL. People will bring it up from time to time and you can remind them that personal prejudice is indeed real. However, institutions continue to misuse power to maintain a racist foundation against Black, Brown, and Indigenous folx*. Therefore, the only people who benefit from that are white people. Contrary to the dictionary definition, racism is more that the personal prejudice” part of the equation.
This definition is made up by the author who does admit that she has a personal prejudice against white people, but because of her made-up definition or racism, her prejudice is not racist! (????)
The dictionary definition of racism is: a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.
Throughout her book the author denigrates white people.
In his I Have a Dream speech, Martin Luther King said, “Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.” It makes no sense to try to turn hatred upside down so that you still teach that one race is better than another, but you endeavor to reverse who should be disdainful of whom.
Let us try to find solutions together. Let us try to combat ignorance. Tiffany Jewell is contemptuous of who people say “When I look at you, I do not see color.” I don’t think I have actually used that phrase myself, but if I were to say it, I would not mean I cannot tell what color you are. Of course, I can see a difference in skin color, of course I can tell if you have blond hair or gray hair or black hair. If course I can see that your eyes are brown and mine are blue or hazel or green. What I would have meant was, of course. I know we have had different experiences. But even though we come to this moment with different personal experiences, you and I are able to talk, work together, or even have lunch together without a preconception of how the other thinks and feels. Our differences are of value. We may have had dissimilar events that make up our past, but together we can find a way to fix a problem, or maybe we can just enjoy each other’s company and have lunch together and talk about our families or the weather, or how good the food is at this restaurant.
In her Anti-Racist racist book, the author talks of our history. She only mentions negative things that happened. There is no doubt that over hundreds of years, there have been many atrocities committed by those in authority; there have been many injustices and outrageous acts of violence committed against people, especially people of color. This is part of our history and absolutely needs to be taught. Slavery cannot be shoved under a rug, especially in a country which was founded on the principle that, “All men are created equal.” But we need also to understand that from the beginning there were large groups of citizens who spoke out against slavery. The Republican Party was established to end slavery (and it did). Anti-slavery activists set up the underground railroad, they fought a civil war. Many gave up their lives. Not every soldier who died, died to end slavery, but many saw the injustice of it and the end result was that slavery was legally abolished in this country.
After slavery was abolished, there was still injustice both on the personal level and on the government level.
This country, inspired by Martin Luther King became much more aware of racism and the problems it causes. Because of his movement and his I Have a Dream speech, laws were passed to rectify egregious faults and abolish the contemptable segregation laws, but there will always be work to do. Let’s do it together.
* Folx is used in this book instead of “folks” because the author says folx is gender neutral … By replacing the k with an x it allows the reader who has never been seen before to see themselves in here.
(Not sure I understand the need to misspell a word I would have previously thought is perfectly impartial … I never thought folks denoted a gender.)

Donate Your Bike
Save Those Unneeded Bicycles for Department of Transportation’s Annual Bike Donation Event on Oct. 8
It is a time of year when people start planning for fall and begin to clean out garages and storages spaces. Sometimes they find a bike that is no longer needed. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is hoping you will hang onto those bikes just a little longer and donate them to the department’s annual bike collection drive that will be held Friday, Oct. 8.
On that day, bikes can be brought to the collection site near the entrance to the public parking garage for the Montgomery County Council Office Building at the intersection of East Jefferson Street and Monroe Street in Downtown Rockville. Donations will be accepted between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Bike parts, accessories and helmets will not be accepted.
Donated bicycles will go to the Rockville Bike Hub, a nonprofit organization whose volunteers refurbish the bikes and give them to low-income residents throughout the County. The bikes are distributed through Rockville's Terrific Kids program and MCDOT's Bike Match MoCo program.
Residents may also donate financially to the program to provide bikes for residents in need. Checks can be made out to the Rockville Bike Hub during the collection event. All donated funds will be used to purchase bike helmets and parts to repair the bikes.
For more information about the event, contact Paul Gatons of MCDOT at 240-777-7162 or [email protected].
Meet Two Great Republicans
Reardon "Sully" Sullivan
“I am late to the party,” says Sully. He became involved in the Republican Party about 4 years ago, and in his youth had no political involvement. Disillusionment with the direction of Montgomery County under total Democrat leadership caused him to seek Republican leadership. He cares deeply about this county and works hard to better the lives of the average resident.
The owner of an architectural engineering firm in Rockville, Maryland, Sully started the firm 26 years ago in his basement! The firm recently opened an office in Baltimore, is opening an office in DC, and later this year will be opening an office overseas. Clients include both public and private sector owners, developers and users. The American dream in progress.
Playing bass guitar in a local rock band is a favorite hobby for a man who describes himself as “incredibly shy.” (Few people knowing him would ever describe Sully as shy). Favorite music is Rock particularly 2000+ and ’80’s metal. A simple grooving funk bass line always gets his attention.
Sully had a dog most of his life, but not at the present time. Maybe as a substitute he does enjoy feeding the deer in his backyard.
The Sullivan family was, in Sully’s words, “Sort of a mid-sixties nuclear family" with two parents, and an older sister and brother who remain unavailable for comment beat him up daily. He describes himself as “the nerd” while his brother was the athlete. The Sullivans were the first black family to move into the now-historic West Rockville are. Both of his parents worked, and his father worked long hours first as a budget analyst, then becoming the first black SES in the White House. (The Senior Executive Service is comprised of the men and women charged with leading the continuing transformation of our government.
Our very talented Republican Party Chairman not only plays music, but he enjoys creating original music. He loves “Good old American food with LOTS of butter, working on cars, his job as CEO of his engineering company, and serving as MCGOP Chairman.
“I value integrity, dislike out-of-control egos, liars, corrupt politicians and boors,” says Sully. Starting and maintaining a successful engineering company that provides employment for 40 people here in Montgomery County for over 26 years is one of his proudest achievements. As for the future? “Maybe I will run for political office.”
Public figures he most admires are Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump because they both took their common sense message to the people and the response was positive. He feels blessed to have personally met Donald Trump and would like to have met Ronald Reagan.
As for favorite place? “I’m happy to stay in the good old USA.”
NANCY GRIFFIN
Nancy dove into the pool of politics in 2006 upon relocating to Washington D.C. after the death of her husband. She joined the Chevy Chase Women's Republican Club (CCWRC) and immediately was consumed with political fever. Appalled at the lack of understanding by the civilian community of how important a strong defense and love of God and country was to to keep America strong and remain the leader of the free world, she initiated a popular club event, “Let’s Talk Politics” to inform and educate club members of political issues of the day.
Nancy is very proud of being born in the Bronx, NY, to parents who were Irish immigrants from County Kerry and County Clare, Ireland, Both of her parents worked hard to afford to send their three children to private school. Despite their strict upbringing, they shared with cousins wonderful family social gatherings that reinforced their pride for her Irish heritage. Everyone was required to participate in the festivities; sing a song, dance, recite a poem or tell a joke. This provided an opportunity for the children to build confidence and the ability to communicate with others in a friendly atmosphere.
She worked while in school as a salesgirl in several department stores and also worked for the Sales Manager of American Airlines in downtown New York which included many interesting tasks: handling the VIP customer complaints, going out to LaGuardia airport “in costume” to advertise new flight destinations for American Airlines, and, when there was a plane crash, worked with the family members of the injured and deceased passengers. Nancy was also a Real Estate broker in Omaha, NE and in Gaithersburg, MD. The one thing she has not accomplished is how to ride a bicycle!
It was a happy childhood that she shared with her older sister and younger brother. They participated in school and church activities together. On an average day the now famous Bronx Zoo and the beautiful Botanical Gardens were favorite play places.
Nancy and her sister would take the city bus to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. “Despite our meager upbringing we were wealthy in our exposure to the arts and culture that permeated our daily lives” relates Nancy. Sunday was a day of rest. After church breakfast was shared together and devoured the Sunday newspapers. Sunday dinner was a family tradition and instilled the importance of family and how fortunate it was to be part of a family that loved and supported each other through the ups and downs of growing up in New York City.
In the Little Italy section of the Bronx, Nancy acquired a taste for good Italian food. Locally she enjoys eating at Milano’s Italian Restaurant in Georgetown and Gregario’s Restaurant in the Cabin John Shopping Mall.
Raising her children, the household always included dogs.
Nancy greatly admires the famous Opera singer, Luciano Pavarotti, and his charismatic performances of “Nissun dorma”from The opera Turandot. His vibrant high “C”s and showmanship made him the most celebrated tenor since “Caruso” and one of the few opera singers to win crossover fame as a popular superstar. She feels privileged to having attended his 60th birthday celebration in New York and a second time meeting she spoke to him in the lobby of the of the George V hotel in Paris.
Greece,Turkey, England, Ireland, Paris, Canada, Australia, Newfoundland, Austria, Vienna, Germany, Spain, Alaska and Italy are many of the places to which she's traveled. She has enjoyed learning about the culture, customs, and tasting the variety of food specialties each country, but was always glad to return home to America and the freedom of choice she enjoys here, the opportunity to succeed in any chosen endeavor, the American sense of humor and our ability to laugh at ourselves.
People who complain and criticize, but never make an effort to help solve problems or find a solution to them greatly irritate Nancy..
Her greatest achievement in life was meeting and marrying the “love of my life”, and raising their four children to be independent thinkers and hard workers despite having to move every few years when their dad, who was a pilot in the US Air Force, got reassigned to a new military base. She was privileged to travel with her husband after he retired from the military and worked for an Aerospace company. They went to Air Shows around the world.
She is especially proud of her close relationship with her four children and the bond they share with each other. The icing on the cake has been sharing life with ten grandchildren celebrating the very recent addition to the family of the first great grandson.

Bitcoin?
Bitcoin and our Republic
By Mina Attaran
America, the idea, has been tested many times in its history. While it has changed a lot in that time, usually for the better, the core principles have mostly survived and extended to encompass a larger and larger section of our society.
I believe we are currently facing another battle testing our system to its core.
For me, as an immigrant who grew to love the American core values of Freedom, Liberty and justice for ALL, the specific battle lines are around The 1st and 4th Amendments of the US constitution, censorship and the systemic confiscation or inflation of our personal wealth savings.
Aside from the traditional way of attempting to tax the people more, when that’s not possible the system will just print more money thus leaving us completely exposed to a mistake that could rapidly erode our savings if that printed money doesn’t produce a productive outcome.
We are putting an enormous amount of trust in people and institutions that largely have lost the trust of millions of people. This is a very vulnerable situation we find ourselves in and the proverbial “tax payer” seems to be powerless.
They only have to get it wrong once and an entire generation of people will significantly lose their life savings, and in some extreme cases in smaller less advanced countries can lose it all, Lebanon being the latest example.
Bitcoin represents a technology plus an origin story that has developed into the ONLY framework that can not only secure our 1st and 4th Amendments with technology but is also propagating worldwide to anyone with an internet connection.
An unbreakable, resilient, independent record keeping system that cannot and has not been adulterated or manipulated by any power on earth.
This extreme level of integrity in record keeping, something that Gold does not even have (how many times have we joked about whether or not there are any actual gold bars at Fort Knox?) can and will develop into an independent store of value that cannot be meddled with by any Government or central bank. This is something that every liberty loving human should get behind, and it’s our duty to defend it as well as receive the benefits to our economy from this innovation and not let it get chased out to other jurisdictions by enacting stupid policies at home.
To be clear, I am not suggesting someone make wild speculations with large portions of their wealth and for certain I am not doling out any financial advice, I’m not writing about investment growth opportunities here.
What I’m advocating for is that we stand firm behind Bitcoin mining Proof of Work, which not only can generate a lot of economic activity to states that have abundant energy resources, but also helps to secure the entire network along with the thousands of nodes that operate worldwide. We should defend this system with good policies and resist burdensome regulations.
This immutable ledger does not protect one from the law when a crime is committed, nor should it. Instead it protects one from unreasonable search and seizure!
It also protects against the government run amok and if the spending is too much and too wasteful, there is no entity that can simply change how inflation is calculated to hide the fact.

Racial Bias Toward Police
IT IS TIME TO VOTE THIS RACIST OUT OF OFFICE
The Montgomery County, Maryland County Council is about as liberal as you can get. And despite the claims of “We represent all of the People” and “Diversity is Our Strength” … They clearly do not represent all the people and diversity in everything, but political thought is what they really mean.
However, recent events call attention to the most racially biased member of the Council, Will Jawando. Councilmen Jawando has been an outspoken critic of the Montgomery County Police Department and has likened the Police to the “Slave Patrols” of the old South … this just to heighten the rhetoric against police when the country and the county could not be more divided on the issue. And true to the Democrat credo of never letting a crisis go to waste… Jawando has not failed to produce with this Tweet:

Now one would have to deaf, dumb, AND BLIND not to understand the circumstances the Police were faced with and the unenviable requirement to shoot and kill a 15 year old black girl. The video from the Police Body Cam tells us what we need to know about this unfortunate incident…

The entire world can clearly see that the victim Makiyah Bryant is about to plunge a knife into the girl in the pink suit. This is not a “Social Worker” call, or a “Slave Patrol” collecting a bounty… this is a MURDER IN PROGRESS that has been thwarted by the Police… We can see that --- WITH OUR OWN EYES --- but not Will Jawando. His racial animus and not so subtle bias is failing to serve the residence of this county. His calls to “reimagine the police leave us all less safe… and his willingness to use the death of this potential murder as a cudgel beat on the Montgomery County police has reached the point where he must be called on it.
There are many residents of this county who are frightened by this type of anti-police rhetoric. They are frightened for their families, for their property and the well being of the County.
It is time for Jawando to call off his raciest attacks on our police and start acting on behalf of the entire county. Montgomery County deserves better… and November of ’22 is just over the horizon.

August Chairman's Message
Many in our great nation are taking advantage of the warm weather and enjoying mask less fellowship with family and friends. A time to recharge, reflect and reconnect with loved ones after 18 months of lockdowns, big tech censorship, the teaching of revisionist history in our schools, voter integrity issues, stagnate job growth and now the explosion of crime in our county.
Over the past 18 months, we have all sacrificed and lost our sense of balance and humanity, yet in the midst of uncertainty, we have not only survived, but thrived thanks to our uniquely American spirit. These challenging times have tested our character, but our local party has not backed down. It has tested our perseverance, but we are still here and we are growing.
Even a quick glance at the media it is plain to see that our county is under siege by criminals that feel embolden by the progressive Democrat movement to defund the police. The significant increase in homicides in Montgomery County, Maryland has led county police Chief Marcus Jones to label it a “disturbing trend.” Carjacking's are on the rise, particularly in the Silver Spring and Bethesda area. We have had nearly a 40% jump in armed robberies in the county,” Jones said. The spike comes as the police department faces challenges of recruiting and retaining officers. It is time for the good people to take a stand against crime. We ask for your support to visit the police with Sandy Tuttle and the GOP woman’s groups, become educated about the topic and talk to your neighbors and provide a donation that will help us produce video, blog post that will get the message out to ALL the members of our county, regardless of their party regarding this common sense issue.
Another major issue that will effect our county for many years is redistricting on both the state and county levels. It is imperative that any new districts that are redrawn be fair and allow the 100,000 Republicans in Montgomery County to have their voices heard. Please reach out to the state and local redistricting commission, testify, write letters and call to make your voices heard. Let them know that we Republicans will not no longer stand for gerrymandered districts. (https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/COUNCIL/BCC/redistricting/ )
And for some good news … the MCGOP “Summer Soiree” was a great success, bringing in over 120 like-minded Republicans for an evening of fun and fellowship with great speakers, amazing food and entertainment. Anne Koutsoutis and her team “knocked it out of the park” A short video is located here: https://youtu.be/JM4oDxsyqfU
We have sworn in three great Republicans to the Central Committee: Monte Gingrey- LD-16, Amy Waychoff – LD-18 and Michael Glynn as Parliamentarian. They will be working hard to move the MCGOP forward and fight against the progressive Democrat agenda.
Bill Richbourg and his team are putting together both live and zoom events to pushback against CRT and the teaching of revisionist history in our schools.
Ann Hingston is looking for great Republican candidates throughout the county that are clear, focused, articulate can represent the party effectively.
If you know of local conservative organization or groups, please point them our way so that we can continue the MCGOP goal of working together to make Montgomery County better.
Our party is growing and we need tech help. Anyone that has database, social media or SQL expertise and can dedicate 6 to 10 hours per week is urged to contact me.
If you are interested in being part of the Party's’ growth or would like to be an observer at an MCGOP meeting by zoom please contact me.
We have all stayed up nights worrying about the future that seams unclear. During these challenging times we must apricate each other and celebrate what we have accomplished knowing the despite our fears that we are making a difference. Do not struggle in silence share your story… not as a victim but as a victor.
As always, thanks for being a great Republican, and if you can send me a note at [email protected]. I’d love to hear from you. Your notes are encouraging and welcome.
