Melby Minute - Be Very Afraid

BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID

By Dennis Brent Melby

Our elected officials say “The Republicans are coming to get you – but WE’LL PROTECT YOU. Be afraid…be very afraid!”

Yep, fear is a powerful weapon, and the one-party government here is putting teeth in the fear hoax as they sell it to the public.

Who are the monsters? The elected government in Washington, of course. Why run on local issues when the far-left media will help you to carry on a war of fear. Raise taxes, close streets, let the schools founder but tell folks, ”the government is coming for you, for black and brown people, for folks who speak Spanish, for literally anyone with an accent.” That’s the narrative and the left eat it up.

Just recently they’ve decided that the County Council's leaf blower ban is racist because they think most maintenance staffers are Hispanic (or Lantinx  as they deridedly call them). So they modified the ban so the neighbors who they charged with turning in these hard workers could not snap pictures of the “offenders” so that the government couldn’t comb through the records and arrest the one’s who looked Hispanic. I’m not making this up.

But they go further! What else to make folks fearful?

Happy Holidays - Welcome Delegate Szeliga

On December 10, from 2-4 pm, in the Chesapeake Room, CH1, the Republican Club will host a Holiday Luncheon. Everyone is welcome to join us for a delicious hot buffet, as well as being educated and inspired by our speaker, Delegate Kathy Szeliga, from eastern Baltimore County. In Senate race, Szeliga pins hopes on 'purpling' of Maryland – Baltimore Sun

Delegate Szeliga is a gift to the Republican Party in MD.  She is one of 39 Republicans in the 141 House of Delegates.  She has served in the MD House of Delegates for 15 years and is currently a member of many important committees.  She is a founding member of the MD Freedom Caucus, where she is now Vice Chair.

Delegate Szeliga will be prepared to discuss election integrity and the successes of the Freedom Caucus.  She strongly advocates for individual liberty, fiscal responsibility, and accountability. Unfortunately, the deadline has past to put in our numbers to Sodexo for the buffet. However, if you still want to come, please email Maria Dudish [email protected] by the COB 12/6/2025 and I will see if we can add you to the list. From all members of the RCLW, we hope everyone had a beautiful Thanksgiving.

Chairman's Message

Montgomery County’s Transparency Problem

The Montgomery County Council has once again demonstrated a troubling disregard for transparency and public engagement, this time in the process of filling the remainder of Councilmember Gabe Albornoz’s term. Despite receiving 67 applications, the Council has offered residents virtually no insight into how those candidates were evaluated or why only three were ultimately selected for public consideration. I find this suspicious.

A Happy Holiday Menu for You

(1)

By Lori Jaffe

A number of you have asked for a holiday menu for the politically inclined. Here, with apologies to Julia Childs, are some suggestions. Enjoy your holidays!

Starters

Jawan-dough Soup – This soup is named for Will Jawando, who may have used federal campaign money to benefit his County Executive campaign. This spicy soup has a distinctive smoky flavor, because where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Control MoCo Spending

SAME OLD SAME OLD

Democrat Candidates for County Executive at Montgomery County Civic Federation Forum
The current candidates for County Executive show no desire to improve efficiency or reduce taxes in Montgomery County.
These politicians have been in office for at least seven years, through both the Trump and Biden administrations. Marc Elrich has been in office for 20 years. The County’s economic challenges stem from decisions made locally by the County Executive and County Council. County-level issues are shaped overwhelmingly by:
• Local leadership
• County Council priorities
• Zoning, taxes, and the regulatory environment
• CIP decisions
• Economic development strategy

We Back The Blue

Yes, the MoCo Republicans still back the blue.

A SUCCESSFULL FOOD AND TOY DRIVE!!

Under the auspices of the Republican Party our members and supporters collected hundreds of pounds of non-perishable food and hundreds of toys for those in need. We want to extend our sincere thanks to those who brought food, pet food and toys for those who are less fortunate. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
Republican Congressional candidate Chris Burnett volunteered to deliver our food and toy donations to MANNA and Toys for Tots.

Melby Minute - Her Dad Loved His Little Girl

By Dennis Brent Melby

Her Dad was so proud of his girl – she was so mature and patriotic, smart and beautiful (even if he was biased). And she had volunteered to enlist and volunteered again to re-up to serve in DC during the Thanksgiving holiday – so that others could spend time with their kids and so the people she has come to love in our Nation’s capital would feel a little bit safer this holiday season.

When she and her partner came around the corner she was shot in the face, then shot again with her own gun. She hung on for two days clinging to life and hope…and then she was gone. She wasn’t 21 yet, but her life was taken on the DC streets by an angry man from another country – and it was so wrong on all counts. He also shot her partner, who’s now clinging to life.

I know the area well. For about a year, 6 days a week, I worked at my White House office around the corner on Lafayette Park, a great area in a townhouse that was saved and renovated by Jackie Kennedy. The Guard Officer Beckstrom was killed just yards away; outside the subway I took almost every day. Her father was devastated, her National Guard partners were distraught – yet continued to patrol our capital city to keep it safe for residents, tourists, folks from MoCo and workers.
