BEWARE THE DISINFORMATION POLICE

By Amy Waychoff
Beware the “Disinformation” Police
There is a bill being considered in Annapolis that would severely constrain our First Amendment rights to question the process or results of elections. In HB 333, “Election Disinformation on Large Social Media Platforms and Influence Related to Voting,” “election disinformation” means incorrect or misleading information about election procedures, election results, or voting rights in the State. The bill requires each large social media platform to make reasonable efforts to prevent, detect, and remove accounts and posts that communicate “election disinformation” in the State. The social media platform must report — within 48 hours — very specific information about the problematic posts to the State Board of Elections. Failure to do so would incur fines ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 per offense.
A person who objects to non-citizens voting could be labeled as opposing voting rights. A person who questions the vote count could be said to be spreading disinformation about an election result.

Recent elections in Democrat controlled areas have shown that they can overwhelm results with mail-in ballots. It's not unusual for Republicans to win on election day, when those in-person votes are counted, but after all the mail in / drop box ballots are added, the Republicans lose. We won't let that happen again. The new leadership of the Republican Party is fully behind using mail-in ballots when your Democrat run state pursues it. Watch the video and sign up now for the Primary and General election. And let's Bank the Vote!

WHY THE 2024 PRIMARY MATTERS
By Greg Decker
There are actually a few reasons that the primary election in MoCo matters this year. We will talk about just one of those reasons here and then follow-up in future installments.
As you probably know, Maryland sends 8 representatives to Congress. In recent years the only one who is a Republican is Andy Harris from District 1. Previously, we had another Republican representative but severe gerrymandering effectively eliminated Republican Roscoe Bartlett from representing District 6. After the 2020 census and much judicial and legislative wrangling District 6 has been returned to a demographic make-up which as far as major party registration is fairly equal.
An election district analysis at the non-partisan website “FiveThirtyEight” indicates that Maryland’s 6th District is now what they call “Highly Competitive” as opposed to how it used to be, D+double-digits. Democrat David Trone has purchased this district for the last few terms but he has set his sights on the US Senate so there is now no incumbent running.
Here are a couple of images, from the “FiveThirtyEight” site, which describe the demographic make-up of Maryland’s Congressional Districts:

ROCA WINS ENDORSEMENT

FREDERICK, MD – Republican candidate for Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District, Dr. Mariela Roca, has been officially endorsed by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich. Speaker Gingrich visited the district last October and hosted a fundraising event in support of Dr. Roca. Today, our campaign is proud and honored to receive this endorsement from Speaker Gingrich, who with his “Contract with America” led the Republican Party to victory in 1994 by capturing the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives for the first time in forty years. Next Meeting March 20
by Bob Kammer - [email protected]
Although John Teichert, former Senatorial Candidate, did not appear at the February meeting, we had a spirited presentation with Lou Peck, a long time political reporter in Montgomery County and on Capital Hill. You should have been there!
We have reached out several times to ask Gov Hogan, candidate for the US Senate, to make a presentation at our March meeting. We have used all of the contact points on his State Board of Election post, several times. As of press time we have had no response!
We do have Brenda M. Diaz, a candidate for the Montgomery County School Board scheduled to speak at our March 20th meeting. This year there a number of candidates for the three contested seats available this cycle. We are expecting copies of this year’s “blue book” (as opposed to the teachers union’s Apple Ballot) of endorsed candidates shortly and will have them available at future meetings.
We meet at 1:30 PM on the third Wednesdays of each month In the Chesapeake Room of Club House I. Be there to meet other Republicans from the Leisure World community. Contrary to what the Dem’s would have you believe, WE ARE NOT ALONE!
We have reached out to the remaining candidates for the US Senate to be with us at the April Meeting, just before the May Primary.
