Inside the Democratic Party Through Biden’s Exit
By Dan Cuda
Joe Biden’s 2024 candidacy ended 25 days after American history’s worst Presidential debate (Thursday 6/27). It was a political shipwreck for the Democratic Party. How this happened is an unusually public insight into party dynamics. It all seems so clear in hindsight, but Biden never wanted to leave and the outcome was not inevitable. If this was now Kamala Harris’s first term, Biden’s removal would be depicted as shrewd calculation, and the right would be looking back bitterly. The event is worth reassessing.

Grandparents Day 2025

By Dan Cuda
We celebrate Grandparents Day on Sept 7, just one day a year. But grandparents know the daily care of a child can be an enormous, all-consuming, exhausting task. Daily? The reality is sometimes minute to minute - a dirty diaper, another bottle, car seats and leaving for an appointment in 15 minutes. Everything, everywhere all at once is a reality of child rearing. Grandparents and parents know that reality. They know too the sweet moment when parents and grandparents read the children to drowsy sleep and peace returns to the home….until the next day.

PARENTS MUST TAKE ACTION TO OPT OUT
It’s back to school time and there are a few things about the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) opt-out program that parents should know.
A controversy over the County opt-out program arose when MCPS began using LGBTQ+ storybooks as part of its English and Language Arts curriculum for elementary school children in the 2022–2023 school year. MCPS initially allowed parents to opt their children out of this instruction, but then abruptly reversed course after receiving a growing number of requests from parents to opt out their children. Parents also objected to MCPS teachers reinforcing certain viewpoints and reprimanding children who disagreed with the storybooks as these actions undermined parents’ efforts to direct the religious upbringing of their children.
Montgomery County School Board members and County Council member Kirstin Mink spoke out against parents and their right to guide their children’s education according to their religious beliefs. Hundreds of parents of many faiths, colors and creeds organized and held protest rallies outside of the MCPS headquarters. This led to a group of parents – Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Muslim -- suing MCPS.

While the concept of improving school building utilization by changing the service areas of neighboring schools makes sense, the random application of bussing to achieve perceived racial and socioeconomic diversity does not.
Please join us against the gerrymandering of school service areas and bussing to achieve questionable racial and socioeconomic diversity.

Chairman's Message
We are entering election season. This means a new round of gas lighting by political candidates.

Take for instance Evan Glass proudly proclaiming success of the County “MOVE Act” stating that 55 businesses have moved / expanded in Montgomery County. He fails to mention that many businesses have left the County including the defense contractor Raytheon, Clark Construction and their $4 billion in revenue. Most recently, AstraZeneca the pharmaceutical giant has elected to invest in a multi-billion dollar facility in Virginia, after Marc Elrich touts the county as a bio-tech hub. Way to go guys
