Say "No" to Substance Addiction Facilities by Elementary School
Greenwood Elementary School serves both the Brookeville and Olney communities and is nestled in a family friendly neighborhood of single-family homes. For someone buying a home in that area, you would think it’s that perfect neighborhood where kids can walk to school or perhaps walk freely around the neighborhood without heightened safety concerns, however something is about to change.

Wow, did you ever get the impression that the Maryland Governor and the Montgomery County Executive should copyright the phrase "tax and spend"? Seems like that’s all they want to do.

Even though in Annapolis our Governor inherited a massive surplus, he and the state legislature quickly turned it into a massive deficit. And who to go to pay your debts? Well, me and you, the beleaguered taxpayers. "Just pay your fair share" they say. They’re raising fees, they’re raising taxes, you better nail down your kids' swing set before they take that too!
And in MoCo it’s no different. Our one-party government, led by our one party County Executive (term limited by the way) is proposing YET ANOTHER tax increase, but he’s changed his mind within the last couple of weeks - instead of raising your property tax again he wants to raise your income tax. Remember the old chant "Don’t tax me. Don’t tax thee. Tax the one behind the tree!" Somebody’s got to pay for the outrageous spending MoCo does, and most times its with very little public scrutiny.
Of course we’re fighting it, that’s what we do. Read on in this newsletter about how you can help us. We can't do it alone - we need YOU.
Read on, we are chocked full of activities for May. Check it out. In the meantime let me know what else we have to tackle.
And if I don’t get to see you in person, Happy Mother’s Day! Hope you had a great Mom - I know I did.

John Myrick, 2026 Candidate for Governor of Maryland, has chosen his Lieutenant Governor!
You can meet John Myrick in person at the next MCGOP Breakfast Club on Tuesday, May 13th.
Mr. Myrick announced on April 30th at 12 noon in Annapolis that Dr. Brenda J. Thiam, a professional educator and former Maryland Delegate for Washington County, will be his running mate for Lt. Governor. At the press conference, Mr. Myrick shared his vision for Maryland and introduced Dr. Thiam with the following statement, “I look forward to working with Dr. Thiam as a strong partner to save our great state. As life-long dedicated public servants, we both know the importance of serving the needs and interests of the people, not the government. The current budget deficits and economic conditions in Maryland have created a very challenging time for most Marylanders. We are here to fix Maryland and create a new safe and prosperous future for all Marylanders!”

President Trump’s plan during his second administration is to eliminate global trade irregularities and unfair trade practices, particularly from China. The President plans to convene over 70 U.S. allies to discuss solutions to trade irregularities, such as non-tariff trade barriers, currency manipulation, and other unfair trade practices. He aims to prepare the U.S. and its allies to address China’s unacceptable trade practices. President Trump, with support from strong allies, such as Canada, the U.K., Japan, parts of Europe, Mexico, and South Korea, seeks to decouple from unfair Chinese trade policies. The residents of Olney, Maryland recently discovered that an out-of-state entity, USR Holdings LLC, is purchasing single family homes next to Greenwood Elementary School and converting them into drug rehab centers designed for people with serious psychological or social issues that require 24-hour care and are at risk for imminent harm. These buildings could have over 190 residents each year plus staff and visitors.
Would you allow this drug rehab center next to your child’s elementary school? At a community meeting Councilwoman Dawn Luedtke (District 7) said there was nothing that she or the County could do.
