Open Our Schools
The MCGOP, parents of impacted Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) K-12 students, and other concerned citizens want our public schools opened immediately. The Governor of Maryland released a recent letter instructing all county run school systems to do just that:
Back in August, I authorized every county school system in Maryland to reopen. But despite the overwhelming bipartisan and scientific consensus from President Biden to Dr. Anthony Fauci to Dr. Scott Gottlieb, several have remained closed.
The science is clear. There is no public health reason for schools to remain closed. NONE.
That's why I have instructed county school systems in Maryland to immediately make every effort to return to hybrid in-person instruction as soon as possible.
We need your support now.
The toll of keeping students out of school is completely unacceptable – and it is simply unconscionable. Our children simply cannot afford any more endless roadblocks or any more moving of the goalposts.
The time has come to get all of our kids back in the classroom and to open the schools.
OPEN OUR SCHOOLS SAFELY NOW
The non-public schools in Montgomery County have been open for months, operating safely and effectively, allowing students to learn free from isolation, allowing parents to return to work. But that is not good enough for County Executive Marc Elrich. Elrich has tried repeatedly to have his inept Health Department close these schools. Thankfully, Governor Hogan stepped in and rescinded their orders. But Elrich, the County Council, the Board of Education and the Teachers Union are in lockstep to keep our public schools closed, relegating our students to endless hours of staring at computer screens. No wonder our students, especially low-income and minority, are falling way behind, while members of the Teachers Union receive full salary unabated.
We need public schools open now, safely, for full in-class learning. Please do two things. Stop by the MCGOP HQ Office to: (1) Sign our petition demanding our schools reopen now, and (2) Take home an “Open MCPS Schools” Yard Sign (it’s free) to show you support.
MCGOP HQ will be open Saturday, January 30 from 10 AM to 1 PM, 15833 Crabbs Branch Way, Rockville. Come by and be part of the process to save our students. Email [email protected] or call 301-417-9256 for more information.
If you can't stop by on Saturday you can still sign online here OPEN SCHOOLS
