Why We Need More Republicans, and Republican Women, to Run for Office

By Liz Matory

When fellow Republican grassroots advocate Brigitta Mullican recently asked me if I knew anyone who wasn’t currently a candidate, who would be willing to give women advice about running for office at an upcoming event, I said I would be willing to do so. At that time, I did not intend to run for anything in 2018. In fact, I had reservations about re-entering potentially hostile territory, but I thought that my experience as a Democrat, independent and Republican candidate could be helpful for the women in our county.

Lower Maryland Electric Bills, Thanks to Tax Bill

By Mark Uncapher

Maryland Republican Party Chair Dirk Haire called upon Kathleen Matthews, Maryland Democratic Party Chair, to apologize to Maryland taxpayers for insulting them with her chicken-little scare tactics, “because hard-working Marylanders who struggle to pay bills deserve better than partisan political rhetoric.”

Opioid Crisis Response? MoCo Legislators Back State Sanctioned “Drug Dens”

By Mark Uncapher

Earlier this month, Brian Griffith broke the story in Red Maryland of “Democrats and Heroin Houses.”[1]  At issue is the favorable action of a Maryland State Senate Committee on legislation to allow so-called “Supervised Drug Consumption” facilities to “provide a place for the consumption of pre-obtained drugs, provide sterile needles, administer first aid as needed, and provide certain other services.” [2]

The proposed law’s protections for “pre-obtained drugs” is worth further explanation.  It protects the possession of illegal drugs from prosecution.
