THE QUANDRY OF BEING A GOOD DEMOCRAT

We tease the Democrats 'cause we love 'em....!

NO DOGS OR WHITE PEOPLE ALLOWED

The Honorable Michelle Wu, Democrat Mayor of Boston, Mass. invited only the "People of Color" to her Christmas Party for the "Electd of Color" at City Hall.  The invitation was mistakenly sent to all sitting Council Members - but quickly rescinded to the "white" Members. However if an Honorable "Electd of Color" Councilmember had a white Spouse or significant other, they were allowed to accompany them (it is 2023 after all!)

Don't worry, the Republican Party doesn't follow their lead. Unless you went to a public school you learned the Republicans opposed the Democrats and were founded to eliminate racial slavery, then allow all men to vote, then all women to vote and eliminate discrimination. You are welcome and included to Republican events - no matter what. (Yes, and sometimes you can even bring your dog!)

BE SURE TO BANK YOUR VOTE

I HATE voting by mail!

In 2020 I went from polling place to polling place thanking folks for doing the right thing.

I told them:

“That’s what we Republicans do – we come out to vote at the polling place and do it right. We present ourselves and make our choices so the whole world can see us participate in democracy!”

I was wrong!  In Maryland we’re in the political minority and the majority is winning decisively using mail-in ballots. Unless we can get back to in-person voting we have to play their game. I’ve registered to have the State send me a ballot, and I plan to mail it in. I want you to do that too.

Very often we win at the polling place and lose when the mail-in ballots are counted. Let’s stop that! Yes, I agree, paper ballots, proof of ID, bi-partisan supervision. Unless we get that we need to use the system they have imposed on us to make our choices known.

Please join me in signing up for a mail in ballot.  Here’s how.

Please keep them in your thoughts, conversations, and prayers. "Never again" is now.

FREEDOM OF RELIGION IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY

By Ann Guthrie Hingston

This article appeared in the December issue of Our Parish Times, an inter-parish newspaper serving 28 Catholic parishes and schools in Montgomery County.

Because many of us have children in parochial schools, it is easy to ignore what is happening in public schools and the impact of decisions made by county officials on our families and communities. You may have heard that in recent months concerned parents of many faiths and their clergy, including Catholic priests, have stood in unison at rallies outside the headquarters of the county Board of Education. They gathered to promote restoration of First Amendment parental rights and free exercise of religion in Montgomery County.

Such activism is the result of two recent changes at Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). Earlier this year the Board of Education, consisting of elected officials, decided to change past practice and to deny parents the right to “opt out” their children from lessons and books that unnecessarily violate their sincerely held religious beliefs. They took this action even though other Maryland public school districts allow parents to “opt out.” Also, MCPS adopted changes to the school curriculum and instructional materials to spark discussions of human sexuality and relationships, beginning as early as PreK (4 years old).

REPUBLICAN WOMEN'S CLUBS SPONSOR WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

Members of the Republican Women's Clubs and GOP Volunteers decorated the graves of Veterans last Saturday as part of the Wreaths Across American movement. The event is held the second Saturday of December, with volunteers remembering the veterans from all wars. From National Cemetery in DC to other cemeteries throughout the country, the ritual brings in volunteers from all across America.

Members of the Upper Montgomery Women's Republican Club and their supporters were at the Darnestown Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Members of the Rural Women's Republican Club chose to honor veterans at the Monocacy Cemetery in Beallsville. Veterans in that cemetery include those from the civil war.

Former Poolesville Commissioner Tom Dillingham joined those honoring our Veterans.
