Gender Identity Politics - Wake Up Maryland!

By Amy Waychoff

Delegate Kathy Szeliga (District 7) is once again putting forward her Fairness in Girls’ Sports Bill (HB 156), ensuring that only biological girls can compete in girls’ JV and varsity high school sports in Maryland. According to Delegate Szeliga, “we are on the right side of history by seeking to protect young female athletes in Maryland, and we will not wait until there is another victim of violence, stolen record, or missed scholarship before we act.”

Please help get this important bill passed by doing the following:

LET'S GO AMERICA

I join in your excitement for Monday's inauguration and what will surely be a brighter future for America and the world.

We're ready to go - to help solve some of the major problems left from the past four years - and to tackle our future challenges with a fresh and winning perspective. We finally have some optimism, let's enjoy it.

These next few years will bring issues on the Homefront. Both our County and our State are fully prepared to raise taxes and increase spending and over regulate whatever they can touch to make the cost of living even higher for most of us in MoCo and our region.

I pledge to you that we'll be vigilant, call out the bad actors and encourage good, common sense candidates to come forward and work for sincere solutions county-wide, to make our lives better, easier, healthier and more productive. Thanks for joining me, for working with me, and moving ahead to make Montgomery County great.

SPEAK UP FOR COMMON SENSE

By Lori Jaffe

Common sense is making a comeback. All across the nation, and even in blue Maryland and bluer Montgomery County, people are realizing that their governments need more of it. People are speaking up and it’s making a difference. We encourage you to continue to speak up for common sense. After all, our government is led by “we the people.”

The Huessy Report

My weekly report to Montgomery County Republicans and Friends. Here we have illegal immigration, a congested tax, terrorism, and the fires in California. Best, Peter Huessy

Italy’s Meloni, in Surprise Visit With Trump, Emerges as Europe’s Most Significant Leader, and the President-Elect Calls Her a ‘Fantastic Woman’

California Dreamen’: The billionaire owner of the Los Angeles Times blasted the city’s mayor, Democrat Karen Bass, for her “poor planning” and “poor judgment” in slashing the budget for the fire department, which has been hamstrung while trying to contain the wildfires that have devastated entire neighborhoods. The Mayor sought $28 million in fire department cuts and got $17 million. She was travelling in Ghana during the fires. Hydrants had no water. The governor said water is a local issue while the mayor’s office said water is a state issue.

A CARTER REMEMBRANCE

By Ken Dalecki

"I'm Jimmy Carter and I'm running for President," the little-known ex-governor of Georgia announced in the crowded ballroom of the National Press Club on Dec. 12, 1974. I was among the journalists who heard Carter describe himself as “a farmer, an engineer, a businessman, a planner, a scientist, a governor and a Christian.”

The announcement wasn't a surprise: He'd already made it at the little railroad station in Plains, Ga., what would serve as his official campaign headquarters, and he would do it again later that day in New York City. His seemingly quixotic effort was something of a local story for me. The Thomson Newspaper chain for which I worked had a Washington bureau on the 11th floor of the National Press Building. Thomson owned six newspapers in Georgia, including The Cordele Dispatch just east of Plains. Carter would go on to narrowly win the presidency against a Watergate-hobbled President Gerald Ford.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT

It's been my honor to serve as the local Republican Chair for this important year. I am inspired by the optimism in the air and the gathering of the White House, House of Representatives and Senate under one Party. I do believe better days are ahead for the country.

Thank you for your support and friendship - we've accomplished a lot in an area not known for it's embrace of moderate and conservative values.

There's much left to do, as always, and I, like you, stand ready to help our new leadership, our soon to announce 2026 candidates for local and state office, and our federal administration as they grapple with the issues and opportunities of 2025 and beyond.

All the best, and thanks for your support.
