WHY THE 2024 PRIMARY MATTERS
By Greg Decker
There are actually a few reasons that the primary election in MoCo matters this year. We will talk about just one of those reasons here and then follow-up in future installments.
As you probably know, Maryland sends 8 representatives to Congress. In recent years the only one who is a Republican is Andy Harris from District 1. Previously, we had another Republican representative but severe gerrymandering effectively eliminated Republican Roscoe Bartlett from representing District 6. After the 2020 census and much judicial and legislative wrangling District 6 has been returned to a demographic make-up which as far as major party registration is fairly equal.
An election district analysis at the non-partisan website “FiveThirtyEight” indicates that Maryland’s 6th District is now what they call “Highly Competitive” as opposed to how it used to be, D+double-digits. Democrat David Trone has purchased this district for the last few terms but he has set his sights on the US Senate so there is now no incumbent running.
Here are a couple of images, from the “FiveThirtyEight” site, which describe the demographic make-up of Maryland’s Congressional Districts:

ROCA WINS ENDORSEMENT

FREDERICK, MD – Republican candidate for Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District, Dr. Mariela Roca, has been officially endorsed by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich. Speaker Gingrich visited the district last October and hosted a fundraising event in support of Dr. Roca. Today, our campaign is proud and honored to receive this endorsement from Speaker Gingrich, who with his “Contract with America” led the Republican Party to victory in 1994 by capturing the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives for the first time in forty years. Next Meeting March 20
by Bob Kammer - [email protected]
Although John Teichert, former Senatorial Candidate, did not appear at the February meeting, we had a spirited presentation with Lou Peck, a long time political reporter in Montgomery County and on Capital Hill. You should have been there!
We have reached out several times to ask Gov Hogan, candidate for the US Senate, to make a presentation at our March meeting. We have used all of the contact points on his State Board of Election post, several times. As of press time we have had no response!
We do have Brenda M. Diaz, a candidate for the Montgomery County School Board scheduled to speak at our March 20th meeting. This year there a number of candidates for the three contested seats available this cycle. We are expecting copies of this year’s “blue book” (as opposed to the teachers union’s Apple Ballot) of endorsed candidates shortly and will have them available at future meetings.
We meet at 1:30 PM on the third Wednesdays of each month In the Chesapeake Room of Club House I. Be there to meet other Republicans from the Leisure World community. Contrary to what the Dem’s would have you believe, WE ARE NOT ALONE!
We have reached out to the remaining candidates for the US Senate to be with us at the April Meeting, just before the May Primary.
BIDEN'S STATE OF THE UNION LIES
By Stacey Sauter
When you’re the U.S. President the world is a stage, something proven by Biden’s well-rehearsed performative art during last week’s State of the Union address. There was palpable relief among the Democrats afterwards, with gratitude that their progressive pony will seemingly be able to finish the race. As for me -- and I hope for you -- his speech felt like an aggravated assault on my common senses. There were multiple outlandish contradictions in his remarks, involving things that are otherwise patently clear not to be true. Consider just these three:
- BIDEN, State of the Union, 3/7/24: “Overseas, Putin of Russia is on the march, invading Ukraine and sowing chaos throughout Europe and beyond. If anybody in this room thinks Putin will stop at Ukraine, I assure you, he will not.”
- BIDEN, press conference, 1/19/22: "I think what you're going to see is that Russia will be held accountable if it invades. And it depends on what it does. It's one thing if it's a minor incursion and then we end up having a fight about what to do and not do."
- COLD HARD FACT, 2/25/24: As reported by Ukrainian President Zelensky last month, “31,000 military personnel have been killed in this war.” And by one of the most notoriously evil men in modern history. Instead of playing footsie with Putin in the beginning, Biden should have threatened to chop off his foot if he stepped even one-inch over the border into Ukraine. Now Biden is trying to assure us that if not stopped, Putin’s murderous aggression will not end in Ukraine. His political fix? Blame Republicans for not providing more funding on demand for a war that might very well have been prevented in the first place with staunch American leadership.

STOP OVERSEXUALIZING THE CHILDREN
By Amy Waychoff
It seems that every week, the Democrat members of the Maryland General Assembly outdo themselves by proposing increasingly radical legislation. This is what happened with HB 558 regarding the establishment of a state-wide “Comprehensive Health Education Framework.” An amendment was inserted into the bill that would prevent parents from opting their children out of “gender identity and sexual orientation topics.” Sounds like the legislators in Annapolis want to codify what Montgomery County’s school system is already doing!

New Chair for the Republican National Committee
We heard you, thanks for taking our survey last month. Over 95% said new leadership was a must. Ronna Romney McDaniel stepped down. Michael Whatley stepped up as Chair and Lara Trump as Co-Chair. Thanks for your input. 2024 is an important year for the country and the Party.
