CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD FOR THE 2026 ELECTIONS
The Montgomery County Board of Elections is accepting candidate filings for the 2026 Gubernatorial Primary Election now, through 9PM, Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
Individuals interested in running for the following Montgomery County offices – County Executive, County Council, State’s Attorney, Clerk of the Circuit Court, Register of Wills, Sheriff, the Montgomery County Board of Education (Districts 1, 3, 5, and At-Large), Republican Central Committee, or Democratic Central Committee - may file a Certificate of Candidacy with Montgomery County Board of Elections. Candidates for all other offices on the 2026 Primary ballot should contact the Maryland State Board of Elections for information or filing locations.

The MCGOP fought back and we got some of the compliance requirements changed. However, as indicated in the graphic from the County Council staff report below, they are still mandating the elimination of gas heating. Please sign the petition below against the elimination of gas heat.

As you may have seen on Facebook or X, I recently spoke about a sneaky move by House Democrats to impose a massive tax increase on small businesses, by introducing a bill after we are already two-thirds of the way into session. Today the bill passed the rules committee and has already been scheduled for a hearing in the Ways and Means Committee next week, on Wednesday. I do not think many businesses and constituents are aware of this bill.

After months of promoting a "growth budget," Governor Moore now has the chance to show real leadership by standing against this harmful legislation. How would imposing a billion dollars in taxes on small businesses help drive economic growth? It wouldn’t.
